House 40 – Royal welcome Overview

You know what struck me first about House 40 – Royal welcome? The name actually delivers on its promise, which honestly doesn’t happen as often as you’d think with hotels. I mean, sure, it’s a 4-star place with a solid 8.0 rating, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about walking through those doors that goes beyond the typical front desk smile.

The whole vibe feels like someone’s well-appointed home rather than a corporate hotel chain – and I’m guessing that’s entirely intentional. The common areas have this lived-in elegance thing going on, with furniture that looks like it was chosen by someone who actually cares about comfort, not just Instagram photos. During my stay, I noticed they’ve got these little touches everywhere that you don’t usually see: proper reading lights that actually work, outlets where you need them, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – door handles that feel substantial when you grab them. It’s the kind of place where someone clearly sweated the details.

What really won me over, though, was how the staff seemed to genuinely remember guests from one day to the next. The woman at reception (I think her name was Sarah?) remembered I’d asked about late checkout on day two without me having to bring it up again. And the housekeeping was spot-on – they managed that tricky balance of being thorough without making you feel like strangers had rifled through your stuff. Honestly, the rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star: clean, comfortable beds that don’t leave you feeling like you wrestled with lumpy pillows all night, and bathrooms with decent water pressure. Nothing groundbreaking, but executed really well. The soundproofing is actually pretty good too – I barely heard my neighbors, which is saying something since I’m usually the person complaining about paper-thin walls. One thing I appreciated was how they handle the whole “royal welcome” concept without being cheesy about it. There’s no fake pomp or over-the-top formality – it’s more like they treat you as if you’re a guest they’re actually happy to see, rather than just another booking number. The common spaces stay comfortable throughout the day too, never feeling overcrowded even when the hotel seems pretty full. If you’re the type who likes to grab a coffee and actually find somewhere decent to sit with your laptop, you’ll be fine here.

Early hotels booking in Verona requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary balconies, medieval squares, and Italian cultural attractions.

Self check in, quiet building and street, close to different bus station, big size apartment.

What could be improved: Quite dirty floor, kitchen and shower, not so comfy bed, reported a mini problem that got never resolved, found about how and where to check in half an hour before check in (not the best when traveling). No information about the city, transportation or other in the facility.
