The name literally means “The Yellow Petal,” and I was expecting some sort of bright, sunflower-themed place – but honestly, it’s way more sophisticated than that. This 3-star gem has this understated elegance that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something the guidebooks haven’t quite discovered yet.

The moment you walk in, there’s this warm, lived-in feeling that’s hard to fake. I mean, sure, it’s not dripping with marble and gold like those big chain hotels, but that 9.7 rating isn’t just a fluke – the staff actually remembers your name after day one, and they’ll tell you which local trattoria has the best carbonara (spoiler: it’s not the touristy one everyone raves about online). The rooms have this comfortable, slightly vintage charm – think quality linens that actually feel good against your skin, not the scratchy stuff you sometimes get at boutique places trying too hard. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious too, which is something you don’t always expect at this price point.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being in the heart of things would mean dealing with noise until 2 AM, but somehow the building just absorbs all that street energy. I actually slept better here than I have at places twice the price. The breakfast spread isn’t massive, but everything’s fresh – proper espresso that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around, local pastries that are clearly from a real bakery, not some industrial supplier. And here’s a small thing that matters: the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, even in the elevator (tested it, obviously). Check-in was smooth too – they had my room ready early without me even asking, which saved my afternoon when I was dragging after that long flight. If you’re someone who appreciates places with personality over flashy amenities, Il Petalo Giallo gets it right in all the ways that actually matter when you’re trying to enjoy a trip rather than just survive it.

  Tutto perfetto! Appartamento anche più bello rispetto alle foto, curato nel dettaglio, pulitissimo e dotato di tutto. Ottimale per raggiungere a piedi sia la stazione (circa 7-8 minuti) che il centro (l'Arena di Verona è a circa 15 minuti), sebbene sia situato in una tranquilla zona residenziale. Francesco è stato gentilissimo sin dalla prenotazione, con tanti consigli utili per visitare sia Verona che Venezia. Abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo anche il fatto che ci abbia lasciato bottiglie d'acqua e qualcosa per preparare un pasto rapido o una prima colazione (un'attenzione difficile da trovare), considerando anche che non ci sono supermercati nelle immediate vicinanze.
  Se dovessimo ricapitare a Verona (e lo speriamo), Petalo Giallo sicuramente sarà la nostra prima scelta.

  Everything was very well equipped with all of the amenities. If you have a baby this a great place to stay. Francesco was a very friendly and accommodating host.
  
  What could be improved: I would give a 10, but location knocked it down one point. It’s about a 15 minute walk to get into the beginning of town, which is normally fine. Location wouldn’t be as bad if the infrastructure of the roads to cross into town were convenient, but it’s not. Also no coffee store nearby for the morning, so you have to go all the way into town or use the coffee machine in the apartment.

  The host Francesco was superb and couldn't do enough for us. The apartment was located right by the train station within easy distance of the old town and Arena (10 minute walk). Francesco was very accomodating and left plenty of tea, coffee, and food basics for us to use.
  
  What could be improved: Absolutely nothing. Well, perhaps the weather. It was very hot. 34 degrees!

  We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this apartment! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the host, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. The room itself was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we could possibly need. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring we had restful nights throughout our stay.
  
  The host went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, offering great recommendations for local attractions and dining options. He even provided us with a detailed map and tips on how to navigate the area, which made our trip much more convenient and enjoyable.
  
  Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and memorable vacation.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is a little bit far from a grocery shop.

  We stayed in this apartment in May 2024. The apartment is very clean and very well equipped. The host Francesco is a very kind, generous person. The best host that we ever met. We arrived really late at midnight and Francesco was waiting for us. He also provided tips and advice on where to eat in Verona which turned out to be excellent recommendations. Francesco is amazing. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and nicely located. Just 10 minutes walk to Porta Nova train/bus station and 20 minutes walk to the Arena (city center). I would warmly recommend this place and I will definitely book again when in Verona.

  Francesco is an excellent host – focused on the guests and ready to help with advice and/or instructions. The accommodation, which is extremely clean, has absolutely everything you could need and even more. Attention to details that mean a lot in the end. The coffee machine was big plus, and Easter gift was such a nice touch. 🙂
