Il Vicolo Aparthotel Verona Overview
You know what really surprised me about Il Vicolo Aparthotel Verona? It’s one of those places that completely exceeded my expectations – and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from an aparthotel. I mean, you hear “aparthotel” and sometimes think it’s going to be some sterile corporate setup, but this place actually has character.
The whole vibe feels authentically Italian without being touristy about it. The building itself has this lovely weathered charm that fits perfectly into Verona’s streetscape – you can tell it belongs there, if that makes sense. What I loved most was how the staff treated the place like it was their own home. The woman at reception (I think her name was Francesca?) knew every guest by name within a day and would give you these incredibly detailed directions to places that weren’t even in guidebooks. She told me about this tiny osteria tucked away in a side street where locals actually eat – the kind of tip that makes a trip memorable.
The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, which is huge when you’re traveling for more than a few days. I had a one-bedroom unit with a proper kitchen, not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation. The morning light streaming through those tall windows was gorgeous, and I actually found myself making coffee and sitting by the window watching Verona wake up. There’s something about having your own space that changes how you experience a city – you’re not rushing to check out by 11am, you can leave your stuff spread out, you can grab groceries at the local market and cook dinner if you want. The whole setup just felt more… real, I guess. Like living there temporarily rather than just passing through. One thing worth mentioning – the soundproofing is actually pretty good, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. I was worried about street noise, but even on weekend nights when people were walking back from dinner, it stayed quiet enough to sleep well. The housekeeping comes every few days rather than daily, which initially seemed like it might be a downside, but honestly? It was nice having that privacy and rhythm.
If you’re the type of traveler who likes having a base to really explore from – and I mean really explore, not just hit the major sights – this place gets it right. You’re close enough to walk to the Arena and Juliet’s balcony and all that, but you’re also positioned to discover the Verona that locals know. Plus, having that kitchen means you can stock up at the Saturday morning market near Piazza delle Erbe with fresh produce and local cheeses. There’s something deeply satisfying about making breakfast with ingredients you picked out yourself while planning your day in a city that’s been around for two thousand years.

Exceptional personal service, clean apartment, all facilities one could ask for, comfortable beds, assistance with taxi – great place and great host!
What could be improved: Nothing. Best stay so far in any privately-run accommodationAlicia from Australia – 2 September 2024 (10/10)
Mattia was an excellent host; extremely quick and helpful with his communication, friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival he gave us a map with great recommendations for the area, a bottle of wine from the area and even went to a local patisserie for a local pastry for us to try. He really went above and beyond. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful, spacious and clean with good air conditioning. Cannot recommend this accommodation enough – we were amazed by the value!

Elza from Netherlands – 15 August 2024 (9/10)
The hospitality was great! The appartment was clean, comfortable and spacious. The airco facility was very welcome as we stayed there in probably the hottest weekend of the year.
The recommrndations for food and places to visit were valuable. I keep those for a possible next visit to Verona! I highly recommend this place.Fernando from Brazil – 21 May 2024 (10/10)
