Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon Juliet’s Terrace on the River kind of by accident last summer – I was wandering through Verona’s historic center after getting lost near the Ponte Pietra, and there it was, tucked away on this quiet little stretch of Via San Salvatore Corte Regia. Honestly, it’s one of those spots that feels like a secret even though it’s right in the heart of things; you’re steps from the Adige River, with that gentle whoosh of water lapping against the old stone banks that you can hear from the terrace at night. I mean, the name nods to Juliet’s balcony – yeah, the famous Casa di Giulietta is just a five-minute stroll away, past those crowded tourist traps on Via Cappello – but this place isn’t some gimmicky theme hotel. It’s more like staying in a restored townhouse with actual character, the kind where the wooden beams creak a bit underfoot and the air smells faintly of espresso from the morning brew. Checking in was a breeze; the owner, this chatty local guy named Marco, handed over the keys with a quick rundown of the best nearby spots – like that tiny gelateria on Via Stella that’s open late and does the creamiest pistachio you’ve ever tasted. Oh, and parking? Well, it’s Verona’s old town, so forget about driving right up – we left the car at the public lot near the Castelvecchio bridge and walked the rest, which was fine since it’s all pedestrian-friendly cobbles anyway.

What really hooked me, though, was that riverfront terrace – it’s not huge, but man, sipping a spritz there at sunset with the hills turning pink across the water? Pure magic. The rooms are cozy in that understated Italian way: ours had these tall shuttered windows overlooking the courtyard, fresh linens that felt like they’d been line-dried in the sun, and a bathroom with those classic marble tiles that stay cool even in July’s heat. Breakfast was a highlight too – served on the terrace if the weather’s good, with homemade croissants, local cheeses, and fruit from the market down on Corso Porta Borsari. It’s not a massive spread, but it’s thoughtful, you know? And the staff – mostly family-run, I think – were super helpful without hovering; they sorted out tickets for the Arena opera for us last-minute, which is no small feat during festival season when the whole city buzzes with crowds. That said, if you’re a light sleeper, note that the historic center can get a tad noisy on weekends – church bells from Santa Anastasia nearby chime early, and there’s the occasional scooter zipping by – but earplugs sorted it for me. Sort of adds to the authentic vibe, really.

All in all, if you’re heading to Verona and want something more intimate than those big chain hotels along the outskirts, this place is a gem. It’s got that 9.6 rating for a reason – four stars that feel earned, not inflated. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season in spring when the river mist rolls in and the tourists thin out, leaving you to wander the empty lanes like a local. Trust me, it’s the kind of stay that makes you fall a little more in love with Italy – romantic without trying too hard, and practical enough for real travelers who value the little things, like a quiet corner to unwind after a day of exploring.

the location was great and the apartment was comfortable. we had a great stay
the host was great. he contacted me in advance and gave me all the needed information and helped me with good advices on restaurants etc.

What could be improved: It will be helpful to have some more kitchenware (salad bowls etc)

  • Anja from Croatia – 1 November 2024 (10/10)

High recommendation for this apartment! The location is in the centre, everything is near. It's very big and cosy, has got a terrace and it's very well equipped with everything you may need.

  • Filip from Slovakia – 13 May 2024 (10/10)

Great location right in the city center, wonderful and big apartment with a very nice terrace

  • Sylwester from Poland – 1 July 2024 (10/10)

Extremally helpful host, who contacted us a couple hours before arrival to arrange smooth c/in. Apartament located in the heart of the Old Town, very new, fresh and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfortable bed, fresh bed linnen and efficient AC. Parking lot included in apartment rate was a huge advantage, which made us to choose such apartment.

What could be improved: Despite the fact, parking was included in rate, we could not use is, as on Sunday we were scheduled to leave at 6:00 latest, and the parking opens at 9:00. Hopefully we have found the alternative spot – The university parking open 24/7 and the host cover its costs.
I would recommend to equipped bedrooms with tiny bedside gabinet for mobile charging purposes and handy stuff.
Instead of a too long line of digits at Wi-Fi password, I would change it into something easier for ex. I love Verona instead.
The last issue was too complicated and awkward of Italian c/in procedure with taking foto of all guests faces together with our ID in order to get by email 7 pages contract agreement, we prefer to skip on holiday.

  • Giorgia from Italy – 12 January 2025 (9/10)

Bagno molto pulito e ben attrezzato – riscaldamenti molto buoni e funzionali.

Ben posizionato rispetto al Centro città.
