Parking’s a nightmare around here, though – well, it is in most of old Verona – so I ditched my rental at a garage on Via Emilei and walked the rest. Check-in was a breeze; the staff, this friendly local guy named Marco, chatted about the best gelato spots while handing over my key, no fuss, no long lines like at those big chains.

What really hooked me was the hotel itself – it’s got this quirky, artistic soul, probably from the name, “The Photographer’s House,” with black-and-white prints of old Verona lining the hallways that make you feel like you’re stepping into someone’s personal gallery. My room on the second floor overlooked a quiet courtyard – sort of hidden from the street noise, which is a godsend because Via Duomo can get lively with tourists and vespa scooters zipping by until late. The bed was plush, with those crisp linens that smell like they’ve been line-dried in the Italian sun, and the bathroom had a rain shower that actually worked without that annoying low-pressure thing you sometimes get in historic buildings (they’ve renovated smartly, keeping the exposed beams but adding modern touches). Breakfast downstairs is solid – fresh croissants, local cheeses, and coffee that’s strong enough to wake the dead – but it’s not huge, so if you’re a big eater, hit the café on Via Mazzini nearby. One minor gripe: the Wi-Fi dipped a bit in the evenings when everyone was streaming, but hey, who needs perfect internet when you’re in Verona? I spent my afternoons exploring the nearby Juliet’s House – overrated and crowded, but fun for a quick photo – or just chilling on the rooftop terrace with a spritz, watching the sunset paint the Duomo’s spires orange.

All in all, if you’re chasing that authentic Verona experience without the sterile hotel feel, La Casa del Fotografo is your spot – it’s rated a solid 8.8 for a reason, blending four-star comfort with a lived-in charm that makes you feel like a local. I stayed three nights in May, when the city’s not too sweltering yet, and it was perfect for wandering to the river Adige for evening walks. Sure, it’s pricier in peak season like July for the opera festival, but book ahead and you’ll thank yourself.   Beautiful apartment. Wonderful to have a washer and drying racks. Kitchen was nice too. Great location. Clean and relaxing.

  Beautiful spacious apartment, centrally located in the old section of Verona. Wonderful restaurants and sites to visit within easy walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay!

  What could be improved: There is only 1 aircon unit situated in the hall way, which meant only one bedroom benefitted from the cool air, and the main living room was also very warm.

  What could be improved: Una piccolezza che non scalfisce minimamente la bellezza di tutto l’appartamento e della sua funzionalità. È più una considerazione su una attenzione (non dovuta) ma che avrei gradito molto e che sarebbe un ulteriore plus per gli ospiti .
  Trovare un paio di bottiglie di acqua all’arrivo.

  A localização é perfeita, duas quadras da catedral de Verona, próxima ao centro, fizemos tudo a pé. Alem disso, o apartamento é lindo, muito limpo e bem cuidado, toda a comunicação é rápida, tem indicação de restaurantes por perto, tem ar condicionado e aquecimento, cozinha muito bem equipada. Uma jóia em uma cidade magnífica!
