Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to La Casa dell’Artista on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets start buzzing with early tourists but the air still has that crisp, almost floral bite from the nearby Adige River. The address is tucked away on Via Raimondo Franchetti in Borgo Milano, which isn’t the flashy historic center like around Piazza delle Erbe, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. It’s more of a locals’ spot, with those quiet residential vibes – think families walking dogs past corner bakeries that smell like fresh cornetti in the morning. I drove in from Milan, and parking was a breeze; they’ve got a small lot out back, which is a godsend because street spots in this neighborhood can vanish during match days at the Stadio Bentegodi, just a 10-minute walk away. Check-in was smooth, the front desk guy – Marco, I think? – chatted about the best route to the Arena (hop on the 11 bus from Via San Marco, skips the traffic snarls), and he even hooked me up with a late checkout without batting an eye.
Stepping inside, the place lives up to its name – “The Artist’s House” – with these quirky murals and sculptures scattered around the lobby that feel like they were plucked from some bohemian studio in Verona’s old town. My room on the second floor had this massive window overlooking a little courtyard, and the bed was one of those memory foam deals that actually lets you sleep through the night, even if you can hear faint traffic hum from the ring road if you’re a light sleeper. (Pro tip: ask for a back-facing room if noise bugs you, especially on weekends when folks are heading to games.) The bathroom was spotless, with those rain showerheads that make you linger – though, well, the tiles were a tad dated, like something from the ’90s, but it added to the character, I suppose. Breakfast downstairs was solid: fresh espresso, prosciutto, and cheeses from local spots, nothing fancy but way better than the chain hotel buffets. I mean, it’s not a five-star spa palace, but for a 4-star joint with a 7.7 rating, it punches above its weight – especially the free Wi-Fi that didn’t glitch once while I was streaming directions to Juliet’s House, about a 20-minute stroll or quick bike ride away.
All in all, if you’re visiting Verona and want something authentic without the tourist crush – say, for the opera season at the Arena in summer, when the center gets packed – this is your spot. It’s close enough to hop into the action (grab a spritz at that hidden bar on Via Albere nearby) but far enough for some peace, and at that price point, you’re not overpaying for frills you won’t use. I left feeling like I’d stumbled on a local secret, you know? Just watch out for the occasional stadium crowds if Hellas Verona’s playing – it amps up the energy, but pack earplugs if you’re not into the chants.

Very good – Roland from Slovakia – 23 April 2025 (8/10)
nice big flat with big terrasse walking distance to the town
What could be improved: (1) flat needs deep cleaning as kitchen especially is not clean, greasy basically what ever you touch, floors, i speak about deeper cleaning ones at the time
(2) flat is not maintained, gas is leaking from kitchen stove (we had to close it), terrasse window is very hard to open and close as it is broken,Spacious apartment, great for people wanting separate rooms – Neil from South Africa – 18 May 2024 (9/10)
Spacious and comfortable apartment.
Fairly close to the old town, but I suggest having a car as this is not within walking distance.
What could be improved: The entrance to the apartment on floor 10 has a smell to it that is not the fault of the owners of the apartment. But it is a little off putting. The entrance door is also quite dirty and not a welcoming experience.
This is not a touristy spot. This is definitely where people live and work.Very good – Sebastjan from Slovenia – 4 November 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: NothingPleasant – Peter from Australia – 10 September 2023 (8/10)
Quality accommodation with enough room for 6 persons
What could be improved: Location was a little further out of town than we expected and transport was difficult with luggage. There is a problem with the refrigerator icing over because of poorly fitted door. Otherwise, very good. Slats need refixing on the bedExceptional – Bojana from Serbia – 6 May 2024 (10/10)
Everithing was great. Appartment was spacious, equiped with everithing se needed. It's lication is excellent, in quiet area and good conection by bus to city centre, but not far by foot. Comunication with host was minimal, but very eficient.
It was wonderful Verona is a beautiful city! – Erika from United States – 24 November 2023 (10/10)
Lovely views and the condominium was very comfortable and clean.
What could be improved: Everything was excellentVery poor – Ali from Turkey – 23 June 2024 (2/10)
Big flat, there is wifi and smart tv
What could be improved: Rooms are not clean, The flat is so far from the city. The transporation is difficult. Especially after 21.00, no bus, no train, you need to wealk 35 – 40 minutes. Not a hotel or apparr, it is a normal family resitance and the neighborgs are disturbing this situation.
