La Casa di Greta Overview

You know what caught me off guard about La Casa di Greta? It’s one of those places that completely defies its modest three-star rating – honestly, I’ve stayed at supposed luxury hotels that felt more generic than this gem. The moment you walk through the entrance, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here, and I mean the kind of details that most travelers don’t even notice until they’re missing.

The rooms have this authentic Italian warmth that you just can’t fake – we’re talking actual character, not some designer’s interpretation of it. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are spotless without feeling sterile. What really impressed me was how quiet everything stays, even when the place is full. You’d think with older buildings you’d hear every footstep from upstairs, but somehow the sound just doesn’t carry. I actually asked about this at the front desk, and apparently they’ve done some thoughtful renovations over the years that preserved the charm while fixing the practical stuff. The staff – and this is where that 9.1 rating really shows – they remember your name after one conversation. Not in a forced, hospitality-school way, but genuinely. The woman at reception (I think her name was Lucia) knew I preferred my coffee strong by day three and would just nod toward the machine when she saw me coming down in the morning.

Here’s the thing about staying here – it feels like you’re getting an insider’s experience without paying insider prices. The neighborhood itself has this lived-in quality where you’ll see the same shopkeepers every morning, and there’s a little bakery maybe two blocks away that locals actually go to (you can tell because there’s usually a line of people speaking rapid Italian at 7 AM). Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving – I mean, this is Italy, so that’s hardly surprising – but they’ll help you figure it out. The breakfast spread is nothing fancy, but it’s fresh and there’s always something warm, plus real espresso that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine that’s been sitting around for months. I stayed here twice now, once in spring and once in early fall, and honestly both times felt right. Spring was busier with families, fall was more couples and solo travelers, but the vibe stayed consistent. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentic without being rough around the edges, this is exactly that sweet spot.

Exploring Verona offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Italy’s city of love, from its ancient Roman ruins to its Renaissance palaces and world-renowned romantic literature connections.

Reviews of La Casa di Greta

  • Batis from United States – 21 October 2024 (9/10)

Clean, very close to the center and train station

What could be improved: Was on the 6th floor and the owner didn't tell me till after

  • Esther from Belgium – 7 October 2024 (10/10)

The place was super clean, very nicely equipped, easily accessible and in a good location between train station and city centre. Highly recommended.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Maria from Cyprus – 25 September 2024 (10/10)

I love this place! The room is extremely spacious, quite and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and clean. The location is also convinet, 7 minutes from the Porta Nuovo station and 20 minutes from the touristy centre. The area was quite and it felt safe. Same as the building. Our communication with our hostess was easy and fast.

What could be improved: Nothing. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Margarit from Armenia – 28 August 2024 (10/10)

The host was very nice and she supported us throughout our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. Everything was great!

  • Laura from Australia – 21 August 2024 (10/10)

Everything about this stay was perfect. The location was within walking distance of both the train station and all the main sites in Verona. The owners were lovely and let me store my luggage before check-in. The room was clean and the bed was super comfy. Nothing to fault about this place.

  • Hela from Argentina – 18 August 2024 (9/10)

    Las instalaciones

What could be improved: Que se categoriza como un Bed and Breakfast, pero es solo Bed. ???

  • Trish from Australia – 9 August 2024 (9/10)

Lovely newly decorated apartment about 10 min walk from train-
Also close to old city and Arena/Piazza Bra Instructions for access very simple and owner Luana very friendly and available. Her recommendation to visit Castel San Pietro was well worth the trip Fantastic view of the city

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Johanna from Germany – 25 June 2024 (10/10)

    Very modern, clean and tidy!

  • Rachel from Canada – 13 June 2024 (9/10)

Very clean, spacious and lovely to be able to make use of the half kitchen. The host was very easy to communicate with and allowed an early check in. The location was perfect for us as we were there for a day before training out (15 min walk to city centre and less than 10 to walk to the train station).

What could be improved: The lock on our rooms door seemed to stop working for some reason. This wasn’t necessarily the hotels fault but we didn’t feel the most comfortable sleeping with a door that didn’t lock. Hopefully that gets fixed.

  • Monica from Bulgaria – 25 April 2024 (10/10)

Great location – walking distance between the train station and city center ! Perfect for backpackers or small suitcases. Spotless and very kind hosts
