The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – you’ll find little touches like handpicked artwork on the walls and furniture that actually looks like someone chose it because they liked it, not because it was on sale at some hotel supply warehouse. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, which matters way more than people think when you’re trying to recover from a day of exploring. Actually, I slept better here than I have at some 4-star places that cost twice as much.

What really won me over, though, was the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The staff – and there aren’t many of them, which somehow makes it better – actually remember your name and your coffee preferences. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no upselling or lengthy explanations about amenities you’ll never use. They just get you settled and let you be. The Wi-Fi actually works (revolutionary concept, I know), and the water pressure in the shower is solid. Look, these might sound like small things, but when you’re traveling, these small things become the difference between a good stay and one you’ll remember fondly. The 8.7 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentic rather than manufactured, where you can relax without feeling like you’re being constantly marketed to, this is worth considering. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that feel real rather than perfect.
