Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to La Casetta on Viale Spolverini – it’s this quiet little stretch in Borgo Venezia, you know, that neighborhood east of Verona’s center where things feel more like everyday Italy than the tourist crush around the Arena. Honestly, I was skeptical at first because it’s not right in the historic heart, but man, that turned out to be a blessing. I mean, it’s just a 10-minute walk to Stazione Porta Vescovo, which means you can hop a train into the city center in no time – or even zip out to Lake Garda if you’re feeling adventurous. We arrived in the late afternoon, and the check-in was super laid-back; the owner, this friendly local guy, chatted with us about the best spots for aperitivo on Via XX Settembre nearby (pro tip: skip the tourist traps and head there for real Veronese vibes). Parking was a bit of a hunt – street spots only, and it gets tight in the evenings when folks come home from work – but we snagged one without too much hassle. The building itself is this charming converted house, sort of tucked away with a small garden out front that smells like rosemary and whatever’s blooming in spring. It felt authentic, you know? Not some glossy chain hotel, but a place where you could actually unwind after dodging crowds at Juliet’s balcony.
Stepping inside, the rooms – well, they’re cozy in that Italian way, with wooden beams and those heavy curtains that block out the morning light if you’re nursing a hangover from too much Valpolicella. Ours had a little balcony overlooking the street, and yeah, there was some ambient noise from scooters buzzing by in the mornings, but nothing that earplugs couldn’t handle (and honestly, it’s quieter than staying smack in the centro storico during festival season). The bed was firm but comfy, and the bathroom had that fresh, citrusy soap smell that always reminds me of Italy. Breakfast was simple – croissants, cappuccino, maybe some fruit – served in this sunny communal area downstairs, and it was perfect for planning the day over a second espresso. I appreciated the little touches, like the free Wi-Fi that actually worked (unlike some spots I’ve hit in Verona) and the air conditioning that hummed softly without blasting you out. It’s rated a solid 7.8 for a reason, I think – nothing over-the-top luxurious, but clean and functional, with that 4-star polish on the basics. Oh, and if you’re traveling solo or as a couple, it’s ideal; families might find it a tad snug, but we loved the intimacy.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants to experience Verona without the constant hustle – say, wandering Borgo Venezia’s markets on weekends or catching a quiet bus to the Adige River paths – La Casetta is a gem. It’s affordable for what you get, especially off-season when Verona’s less packed (avoid July if you hate the heat). I left feeling like I’d found a little secret spot, you know what I mean? Not perfect, but real, and that’s what keeps me coming back to places like this.

Very good – Grazia from Italy – 4 June 2025 (8/10)
Negozi, supermercati, pizzerie e trattorie vicini per cui non era necessario prendere l'auto. Casa accogliente con tutti i confort dalla lavatrice alla lavastoviglie
What could be improved: Qualche ragnatela qua e là tra le travi in legno, non siamo riuscite a toglierle perchè troppo in alto.
Lamentable
