Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to La Terrazza di Vittoria on a warm spring evening – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets buzz with tourists but the air still has this crisp, floral edge from the blooming gardens along the Adige River. It’s tucked right on Lungadige Porta Vittoria, just a stone’s throw from the Ponte della Vittoria bridge, which honestly makes it a breeze to wander into the heart of the historical centre without dealing with the chaos of Via Mazzini traffic. I mean, parking in Verona can be a nightmare – those narrow cobblestone alleys aren’t kind to cars – but there’s a public lot nearby on Via San Nazaro that’s usually not too packed if you arrive after 7 PM. Checking in was straightforward; the owner, this friendly guy named Marco (or was it Matteo? Anyway, super welcoming), handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best gelato spot down the block – Gelateria Ponte Pietra, if you’re into pistachio like I am. The building itself is one of those unassuming Italian townhouses, painted in soft terracotta with wrought-iron balconies, and stepping inside, there’s this faint scent of fresh linen and espresso that just screams “home away from home.”
What really won me over, though, was the terrace – hence the name, I suppose. It’s up on the top floor, overlooking the river and those ancient walls that date back to Roman times, and let me tell you, sipping a morning coffee there while watching the sun glint off the water is pure magic. The rooms are cozy, not huge, but spotless with these old wooden beams and modern touches like USB ports by the bed – perfect for charging after a day trekking to the Arena or Juliet’s House, which is literally a 10-minute stroll away via the quieter backstreets off Corso Porta Borsari (avoid the main drag if you hate crowds). Breakfast is simple but solid: fresh croissants, yogurt, and that strong Italian coffee, served in a little courtyard that stays shaded and cool even in July’s heat. Oh, and noise-wise, it’s surprisingly quiet for being so central – the river drowns out most street sounds, though you might hear church bells from San Fermo Maggiore in the distance, which I actually found charming. One minor gripe? The Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but hey, that’s Italy for you – forces you to unplug and enjoy the view instead.
All in all, for a 3-star spot with a 9.2 rating, La Terrazza di Vittoria punches way above its weight. It’s not some flashy chain; it’s got that authentic Verona vibe, like staying with a local friend who knows all the shortcuts. If you’re visiting in shoulder season – say, April or October – it’s even better, less crowded and prices dip a bit. Honestly, I’d go back in a heartbeat for that terrace alone; it turned my quick weekend into something memorable, wandering to hidden osterias on Via Sottoriva for aperitivo without ever feeling like a tourist trap. If you’re after real immersion without breaking the bank, this is your spot – just pack light, those stairs to the upper rooms are no joke after a day of sightseeing.

What could be improved: N/AGreat apartment for exploring Verona for a few days! – Janille from Italy – 31 July 2024 (10/10)
Everything. We loved that it was close to the Verona center/plaza with just a quick walk across the bridge. There are also coffee bars on either side of the property. We enjoyed the apartment, with distinct areas for the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen and AC in both the bedroom and kitchen areas. Everything looks very new and updated. The bathroom shower was comfortable and easy to use. The mirror and vanity in the bathroom was large and good for the two of us to get ready. Our host, Luca, was great. He met us at the bus stop and was available for us through message or in-person whenever we had a question. We would recommend this place to other travelers, especially with a great host like Luca.
What could be improved: The only thing I would add to the property is a full size mirror.Exceptional – Veronika from Germany – 27 June 2024 (10/10)
