La Terrazza su Verona Overview
You know what struck me first about La Terrazza su Verona? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard, but somehow gets everything just right. I mean, with a 9.5 rating, I was expecting something pretty special – and honestly, it delivered in ways I wasn’t anticipating. The name basically translates to “the terrace over Verona,” and that should tell you everything about why this 3-star gem punches way above its weight class.
The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’re staying somewhere that actually cares about the details. It’s not flashy or over-the-top luxurious, but there’s a warmth here that a lot of higher-end places seem to miss entirely. The staff – and I’m talking about people who clearly know Verona inside and out – will point you toward spots that aren’t in your guidebook. They told me about this tiny osteria tucked away near Piazza delle Erbe where locals actually eat, not just the tourist traps everyone else recommends. That kind of local knowledge? You can’t fake it.
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to capture that authentic Veronese atmosphere without making it feel like a theme park. The terrace (obviously the star of the show) gives you these incredible views over the city’s rooftops – you can actually see the Arena from certain angles, and in the early evening when the light hits those ancient stones just right… well, it’s pretty magical, honestly. I spent way more time up there than I planned, just watching the city come alive below. The breakfast service happens up there too when weather permits, and there’s something about having your morning coffee while looking out over Romeo and Juliet’s city that makes even instant espresso taste better (though theirs definitely isn’t instant).
I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll find a spa or a fitness center, but that’s sort of the point. It’s intimate, maybe 15 rooms total, which means you’re not fighting crowds for anything and the service feels genuinely personal. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, with that classic Italian attention to linens and little touches that make you feel at home. Some have small balconies, and if you can swing one of those, absolutely do it. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after dinner, so you’ll actually sleep well – something I can’t say about every place I’ve stayed in Italian city centers. Honestly, for a 3-star place, La Terrazza su Verona feels like it’s keeping a secret about just how good it really is.

Stanislava from Slovakia – 12 August 2024 (10/10)

What an amazing experience! 🙂
We were welcomed by Yemmi, the owner and host of the apartment. She is friendly, helpful and obviously has a great taste! Yemmi also sends all kinds of recommendations for restaurants and you can write her. She answers very fast and very thoroughly. The apartment is a 20 minutes walk away from Verona center. We used our car, since it was too hot, so we got there in 5 minutes. There is not only a private garage included in the apartment, but also two bikes that you can use during your stay. The apartment itself is big, cute, fun and amazingly furnished, with love to detail and you can feel that the owner used to live there. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, but would not dare to expect. The bed is round, which was an unusual, but a fun experience, and very comfortable. The apartment is spot on clean and offers a balcony with a build-in grill, plus a huge private terrace on top of the apartment with sunbeds, chairs, table, lounge set and a beautiful view. 🙂 We had everything we needed and would love to come back next time we are in Verona. Thank you Yemmi for making us feel at home!
What could be improved: That we had to leave!Allan from Australia – 13 October 2023 (9/10)
The apartment reflects the owner's tastes (as they lived there previously). It is thoughtfully fitted out and has its own character and flair. The rooftop terrace was large and spacious, and the apartment as a whole is well designed and suits 1-2 people well. We were very impressed and enjoyed our stay immensely.
What could be improved: A microwave oven would have been useful.Julia from United Kingdom – 26 June 2023 (10/10)
Loved the property so quirky loved the bathroom! and as a bonus there was an outside terrace from the main room and a roof top terrace which was wonderful ! The apartment had everything we needed and Yemmi was very helpful and only a message if needed her

Yemmi is wonderful. She opened the apartment for us and, when we left something behind, she went out of her way to return it to us. We are very grateful indeed. The apartment is quirkily furbished. It has a secure garage, bikes to borrow, and both a balcony and roof terrace – all really good. It is situated in an attractive and smart suburb, with very nice local shops. The main railway line and ring road make it quite difficult to walk there, however, so if travelling with luggage by train, the key thing is to ask Yemmi's advice because the apartment is a 30min walk south of the station (which in turn is a 20min walk south of the old town). Either get a cab from the station or a 23 bus which takes you to right to the apartment. For the return journey, go to the bus stop by the kebab shop diagonally opposite the apartment. It goes to the old town via the station. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend the apartment. Thank you – especially to Yemmi.

The apartment had a balcony and roof terrace with excellent views of Verona. There was a bus stop 100m from the apartment which made it easy to get into the centre.
