La Terrazza sull’Arena Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to La Terrazza sull’Arena, you immediately understand why this four-star property has such an incredible reputation. I mean, the location alone — tucked right behind Verona’s ancient Roman amphitheater on Via Dietro Anfiteatro — is honestly something special. You’re literally steps away from one of Italy’s most famous landmarks, and the energy of Verona‘s historic center buzzes around you from the moment you arrive.
The Heart of Verona
What strikes me most about this place is how it puts you right in the thick of everything that matters. The Arena di Verona is practically your backyard — during opera season, you can actually hear the performances drifting through the evening air. But it’s not just about the big attractions, you know? You’re surrounded by those narrow medieval streets where locals still do their daily shopping, authentic trattorias that tourists never find, and little wine bars that come alive after sunset. Couples absolutely love this spot (they rate the location 9.9 out of 10), and honestly, I get it — there’s something incredibly romantic about having ancient Roman stones as your neighborhood backdrop.
Your Room with a View
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed, balancing modern comfort with respect for the building’s historic character. What really impressed me was the attention to detail — quality linens, well-placed lighting, and that sense of quiet you need after a day exploring the city. Some rooms offer glimpses of the Arena, while others look out over the charming rooftops of the old town. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, which is pretty much what you’d expect in a historic building in Italy’s center.
Exploring from Your Doorstep
Here’s what I love about staying here — you can roll out of bed and be at Juliet’s balcony in about three minutes on foot. Piazza delle Erbe, with its morning market and evening aperitivo scene, is just around the corner. The Adige River and Ponte Pietra are a pleasant five-minute stroll away. And if you’re planning to catch an opera or concert at the Arena (which, let’s be honest, is probably why you’re in Verona), you’ll be among the first to grab your seats. No rushing, no stress about finding the entrance — you’re already there.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.8 rating, this place clearly does something right, and after staying here, I think it comes down to location and genuine hospitality. The staff knows Verona inside and out — they’ll point you toward the best gelato (not the touristy stuff), recommend which nights have the best atmosphere in the piazzas, and help you navigate opera tickets if you haven’t sorted that out yet. You’re paying for the privilege of sleeping in the heart of one of Italy’s most beautiful cities, and honestly, when you wake up to church bells echoing off ancient stones and step outside to find yourself surrounded by 2,000 years of history, it feels worth every euro.

The apartment was extremely comfortable and well appointed plus situated perfectly. The host, Daniela, made sure we had everything we needed and checked in with us during our stay. She gave us some great recommendations for restaurants to visit. We felt extremely safe in the apartment.
What could be improved: There was nothing that we didn’t like.Ecaterina from Germany – 5 September 2024 (10/10)
Everything was great!

The location of the apartment is perfect for anyone going to an opera or concert at the arena. The view from the terrace is amazing! Daniela was an amazing hostess. Our flight was badly delayed but she went out of her way to meet us outside the property and show us how everything worked. She also offered us free breakfasts at Cafe Emanuel where the staff were really friendly. A great apartment in a great location.
Thank you for everything Daniela

A* in every way. We have just spent 3 nights at La Terrazza sull’Arena and it was perfect in every way. The apartment is beautiful inside, literally across the road from the Arena (we attended one night), surrounded by beautiful shops, restaurants and bars. Our host Daniela made us very welcome and checked in with us regularly. We will definitely be back and would have no hesitation recommending La Terrazza.

Incredible location immediately next to the arena. Central to everything and very unique. Beautiful apartment with a terrace that looks upon the arena. Host was very helpful and nice. I would recommend to anyone especially on their initial trip to Verona.
What could be improved: Slanted ceiling were a bit low in spots but no real issue.Anthony from United States – 9 September 2023 (10/10)
The place was exquisite and the owner Daniela was the perfect host and I like to thank Daniela for her warm welcome and Don't forget to try the Emanuel bar for breakfast and drinks with the arena in front view (Mille grazie Daniela alla Prossima visita)

The host was beyond accommodating, truly a lovely person. She met us for the keys and we were running a bit late because we drove in from Garda for the Opera and parking was a challenge. The room/unit was quite large, well laid out but the A/C was being repaired. So there was a temporary unit but it was adequate. The ceiling in the room where the bed is angles quite sharply but we are no taller than 5' 7" so not a problem but for taller folks it might be an issue. But the property is literally across the street from the coliseum and I cannot imagine a better place to stay for the Opera – restaurants everywhere and right at the main gates.
What could be improved: The unit was wonderful, no complaints at all. But, the roads close on the nights of the Opera – so just understand it will be hard to drive around and difficult to park at some point. Getting to the unit before the roads closed is a good idea. If there's no Opera, likely no problem. GPS won't know some streets are temporarily closed so it will direct you in ways you can no longer go. Getting close to the unit once the streets are closed is tricky.
