You know, I stumbled upon Like Home almost by accident last spring when I was wandering through Verona’s old town – that maze of narrow alleys off Via Mazzini where the tourists thin out and you start feeling like you’re in on a local secret. It’s tucked away on Vicoletto Corticella Vetri, this tiny side street that’s practically a whisper away from the Adige River and Ponte Pietra. Honestly, pulling up in my rental car was a bit of a squeeze – parking’s no joke in Verona’s historic center, so I ended up ditching it at a nearby garage on Via Emilei (about a five-minute walk, and yeah, it costs a few euros, but worth it to avoid the headache). But once I stepped inside, it was like exhaling after holding your breath all day. The place feels exactly like its name – “Like Home” – with that warm, lived-in vibe you don’t get from those glossy chain hotels. The check-in was a breeze; the owner, this chatty guy named Marco (I think? Or was it Matteo?), handed over the keys with a fresh espresso and a quick rundown of the best gelato spot around the corner on Via Sottoriva – you know, the one with the pistachio that’s basically life-changing.

What really sold me, though, was how the rooms blend that old-Verona charm with just enough modern comfort to make you forget you’re not in your own apartment. Mine was on the second floor, overlooking this quiet courtyard where you could hear the faint hum of scooters in the distance but nothing too intrusive – well, except maybe during the opera season at the Arena, when the crowds spill over a bit after shows (it’s only a 10-minute stroll away, so plan for that if you’re noise-sensitive). The bed was plush, like sinking into a cloud after a day of traipsing over those uneven cobblestones, and the bathroom had these heated floors that were a godsend on cooler mornings. Breakfast wasn’t some massive buffet – more like a simple spread of fresh croissants, local cheeses, and fruit in the cozy common area downstairs, with that irresistible smell of brewing coffee wafting up. I mean, it’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times in the evening when everyone was streaming, but hey, that’s Italy for you – forces you to unplug and actually enjoy the view from your window, right? And speaking of views, mine caught glimpses of the river at sunset, all golden and romantic, which made up for the occasional street musician tuning up below.

All in all, if you’re heading to Verona and want something that feels authentic without skimping on the 4-star perks – like that 9.6 rating isn’t just hype – this is your spot. It’s close enough to the big sights (Juliet’s balcony is literally a quick jaunt down Via Cappello) that you can ditch the maps and just wander, but far enough from the main tourist crush to catch your breath. I’ve stayed in fancier places, sure, but none that made me linger over morning coffee like I was a local. Book it for a weekend in shoulder season, say April or October, when the city’s buzzing but not overwhelming – you’ll thank me later.

  Wow! I would consider this two bedroom, two bathroom accommodation as 5*. It has everything you would need for a super comfortable stay. It is just like home from home. As for the hosts Paola & Massimo, they are the most incredible & hospitable people! They are so generous with their time giving information on tourist attractions & recommendations on fabulous restaurants. Anything you need to know, Paola is just a WhatsApp away! Paola & Massimo are amazing! I look forward to staying at this beautiful apartment in the future!

  The property was located within a traditional courtyard and in a quiet area. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you would want. It was within walking distance from the Arena area and most of the sites in the city. The local bus stop was very close to the property.

  This is one of the best Booking,com / AirBnB-esque experiences we have ever had. The house is a 15 minute walk from Porta Vescovo (Verona's smaller train station) and a 10 minute walk from the middle of town, yet it feels miles away from the tourists. Massimo and Paula met us there to explain everything and gives us tips on attractions and food. The house is GORGEOUS- the pictures don't do it justice – perfect for our family of 4 (including 2 teens). We would honestly live here forever if we could. It should be called "Better Than Home"!

  The apartment is well equipped, clean, very nicely decorated and with all major sites within walking distance. Paola and Massimo are extremely helpful and have a lot of recommendations about what to see and where to eat, which makes the Verona-experience even better!

  Staying at Like Home was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived we felt like home. The flat was comfortable very nice designed, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The location couldn't have been better, close to city center, grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Paola and Massimo were very friendly and they gave us a lot of recommendations about things to visit în Verona. Without a doubt, this property exceeded all my expectations, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable stay.

  The neighbourhood was nice and quiet, still near to city center. Apartment is spacious and has two bathrooms. Home away from home. Good tips from the host! She was very helpful, too.
  
  What could be improved: The water pressure is low (as typical in Italy) and the water temparature varies a lot. Not anyone's fault but just a note.
