Lion Trionfante Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Lion Trionfante on Interrato dell’Acqua Morta, you might wonder if you’ve stumbled onto a movie set — this charming three-star hotel sits on one of Verona‘s most atmospheric streets, where ancient stone walls meet cobblestones that have seen centuries of footsteps. The building itself has that weathered elegance that only Italian properties seem to master, and honestly, the location alone makes you feel like you’re living in a Renaissance painting. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the heart of the historic center, but tucked away enough that you won’t be dealing with tour groups marching past your window at dawn.

The Perfect Verona Base

Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Juliet’s balcony in about five minutes, but you’re also close enough to the Adige River that evening strolls become this whole romantic thing (no wonder couples rate this place so highly). The hotel scored a 9.3 for location, and after spending time here, I get it completely. You’re in the top-rated area of the city, which means you can explore the Roman amphitheater, browse the morning markets at Piazza delle Erbe, then duck back to your room for a quick rest before dinner. The narrow streets around here are filled with family-run trattorias that most tourists never discover — that’s the kind of local secret that makes staying here feel special.

Comfortable Accommodations

The rooms at Lion Trionfante strike that sweet spot between authentic Italian charm and modern comfort. You won’t find over-the-top indulgence here, but everything feels thoughtfully maintained and genuinely welcoming. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (always a concern with older European hotels), and the bathrooms are updated without losing the building’s character. What really impressed me was how quiet things get at night — despite being in the historic center, the thick walls do their job well. The staff clearly takes pride in the place, and it shows in those little details that make a difference after a long day of sightseeing.

Authentic Verona Experience

This isn’t one of those hotels where you feel disconnected from the city around you. Step outside and you’re immediately part of Verona’s daily rhythm — locals heading to work, shopkeepers opening their doors, the smell of fresh bread from the bakery around the corner. The hotel’s position means you can experience the city like someone who actually lives here, not just passes through. There’s something about staying on Interrato dell’Acqua Morta that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden corner of Verona, even though you’re right in the middle of everything that matters.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.7 rating tells the real story here — this is a place that consistently delivers on its promises without trying to be something it’s not. Couples especially seem to connect with the romantic atmosphere of the neighborhood and the hotel’s intimate scale. You’re not getting a massive resort experience, but you are getting authentic Italian hospitality in one of the most beautiful cities in the country. For the price point of a three-star property, the location alone makes this a smart choice, and the genuine warmth of the place keeps people coming back.

Reviews of Lion Trionfante

  • Stefany from Portugal – 16 December 2024 (9/10)

I highly recommend the apartment, it's perfect, clean, it has an incredible space

  • Ruth from United Kingdom – 27 September 2024 (8/10)

Very aimable host, outside the centre but within easy walking distance, some nice local bars and restaurants and a pizza takeaway downstairs.

What could be improved: On a fairly noisy road even though we were on the third floor – needed earplugs! The most beautiful marble spiral staircase, but an effort going up. Thankfully Giuseppe helped with our cases.

  • Lilya from Armenia – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

We enjoyed our stay at this place. It’s right in the city center, in a walking distance to all sights. The host was very friendly. The house was clean and had a balcony with a beautiful view.

What could be improved: Everything was great.

  • Ena from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 13 September 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was really nicely cleaned and renovated. It is close to everything you would want to see during your visit, there are also a few markets close by. The view from the balcony is beautiful. The owner was nice and friendly. Would definitely come again 😊

  • Aleksandar from Serbia – 14 January 2024 (9/10)

Location, just few minutes from the center. If you are lucky like we were, you can find free parking spot just in front of the apartment (white lines). Guiseppe was a great host. Excellent for short visit. Very big space.

What could be improved: Beds are bit uncomfy if you are big guy.

  • Iulia from Moldova – 1 November 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: One of the shower doors was missing, could be great if the owner would fix it.

Breakfast was not included but the property had coffee maker and refrigerator for use. It also offer a HOB.
