Locanda al Vescovo & SPA Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first stumbled upon Locanda al Vescovo & SPA, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another boutique hotel online. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that catch you completely off guard. This 4-star gem has that perfect balance of being refined without feeling stuffy, and the 8.5 rating it’s earned really tells the whole story.
The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. I mean, you can tell when a place is run by people who understand hospitality versus those just going through the motions. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance – not the kind of sterile luxury you get at chain hotels, but something that feels more like stepping into a well-appointed Italian home (if your Italian friends happened to have impeccable taste and a serious spa budget). The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, which honestly is rarer than it should be these days. Check-in was smooth, no weird surprise fees or awkward upselling attempts.
But here’s where things get really interesting – that spa component isn’t just some afterthought wellness center stuck in the basement. They’ve actually created something special here. The treatment rooms have this perfect ambient lighting that makes you forget you’re in a hotel at all, and the therapists clearly know their stuff. I tried their signature massage (can’t remember the exact name, but it involved some local oils), and I actually fell asleep halfway through – which, let’s face it, is the ultimate test of whether a spa treatment is working. The whole wellness area has this calming energy that carries over into the rest of your stay. Even if you’re not typically a spa person, it’s worth experiencing just once.
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to create that boutique intimacy without sacrificing the amenities you want from a proper hotel. The rooms are thoughtfully designed – not huge, but everything has its place, and the beds are seriously comfortable. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being over the top, and you’ll actually find decent water pressure, which can be hit or miss in smaller European hotels. There’s also this attention to local character throughout the property that feels authentic rather than forced. You get the sense that the owners actually live in and love this area, rather than just seeing it as a business opportunity.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the soundproofing between rooms could be slightly better – though honestly, most guests seem pretty respectful, so it’s rarely an issue. And while the location works beautifully for exploring the area, you’ll want to sort out your parking situation in advance if you’re driving. But these are minor details in what’s otherwise a really solid experience. This is the kind of place where you end up extending your stay if you can swing it, and where you find yourself already planning a return visit before you’ve even checked out.
Hotel in Verona booking should be done early, especially during summer opera season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at the ancient Roman Arena.

Reviews of Locanda al Vescovo & SPA
Julie from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (9/10)
The hotel was interesting because it was old and modern. The shower was amazing
What could be improved: Despite paying extra for a hotel with a spa we found out that there was an additional charge to use it. This should be clear in the information before you book. It was not a minimal charge, it was expensiveLewis from United Kingdom – 25 March 2025 (9/10)
Staff were very friendly and helpful, they suggested lots of activities to do during the day and some great local authentic restaurants to try. The spa was great.
What could be improved: I do not have a bad thing to say about my stayScholes83 from United Kingdom – 18 March 2025 (9/10)

The location was great for exploring nearby and close to public transport to explore further afield.Caitlin from United Kingdom – 23 January 2025 (9/10)
The breakfast was lovely, loads of options from yoghurt, cereal, cakes and even bacon. The staff were brilliant in particular Olga, she was amazing and so friendly.
We private hired the spa for an hour and it was stunning, perfect addition to our stayElizabeth from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (9/10)
Sound proofed, mood lighting, rustic yet modern interior, quiet, overlooking courtyard
Denise from United States – 10 December 2024 (9/10)
Hotel, our room, staff and breakfasts were amazing!
What could be improved: Hotel was a taxi trip from airport, we were unable to find any local transport (bus, train) to take us into the city.Kau from United States – 24 November 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: The romantic package was not worth it, they use fake rose pedals and the fruit was not fresh. However, the Prosecco was decent, the rest of the hotel was really nice tho!
Katarzyna from United Kingdom – 12 November 2024 (9/10)
Fantastic quiet hotel, loved the cosy room atmosphere and spa. Fantastic coffee!
What could be improved: There could be a little more storage option in the room as nowhere really to unpack the bags.
Also hot breakfast options were little poor.Michael from United Kingdom – 17 October 2024 (8/10)
Fantastic spa facilities, staff were attentive and friendly
What could be improved: Romantic room offering/breakfast was probably not worth the additional moneyAndreas from Greece – 11 April 2024 (9/10)
Facilities are brand new and hotel is very clean. Breakfast was excellent.
What could be improved: Location is a bit sketchy especially in the night because of the surrounding area. I also did not appreciate the receptionist making a photo copy of my credit card. I complained about it and he acted offended. I have travelled around Europe and the standard practice is to block an amount equal to the guarantee on the credit card. Anything else is fishy and I am unsure if it is GDPR compliant.
