Hotel Description
I remember arriving in Verona on a sweltering July afternoon, fresh off the train from Milan, and honestly, I was already a bit frazzled from dodging the crowds at the station. But then I turned onto Via Tre Marchetti – this narrow little street tucked right in the historical center, just a stone’s throw from the Arena di Verona – and there it was: Loft 17 Arena. It’s one of those places that feels like a hidden gem, you know? Not some flashy chain hotel, but a converted loft in an old building with that classic Veronese stone facade, all weathered and charming. Check-in was a breeze; the owner, this friendly local guy named Marco (I think), handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best spots for aperitivo nearby – like that tiny bar on Via Mazzini where they do killer spritzes for half the price of the tourist traps. No elevator, mind you, so if you’re hauling big suitcases, brace yourself for the stairs – they’re steep, but hey, it’s part of the authentic vibe. My room was up on the second floor, and opening the door, I was hit with this cool rush of air-conditioned bliss, mixed with the faint scent of espresso from the in-room machine. The space is modern and airy, with exposed brick walls and big windows that let in the golden afternoon light, overlooking the alley where you can hear the occasional scooter zipping by or church bells from Santa Anastasia chiming in the distance.
What really sold me on Loft 17 was how it balances that sleek, four-star comfort with being smack in the heart of things without feeling overwhelming. I mean, you’re literally two minutes’ walk from the Arena – perfect if you’re catching an opera during the summer festival, when the whole area buzzes with energy (though it can get noisy at night with all the post-show revelers). The rooms are spacious for a city center spot, with these comfy king beds draped in crisp white linens that feel like a hug after a day of wandering. There’s a little kitchenette too, which came in handy – I grabbed some prosciutto and cheese from the market at Piazza delle Erbe (just a five-minute stroll away) and whipped up a picnic dinner on the balcony. Oh, and the bathroom? Spotless, with rain showers that actually have decent pressure, unlike some older Italian spots I’ve stayed in. Parking’s a nightmare in this pedestrian zone, so if you’re driving, plan to use the public garage on Via Città di Nimes – it’s pricey but secure. One minor gripe: the Wi-Fi dipped a bit in the evenings when everyone logs on, but nothing that ruined my Netflix binge. Mornings were my favorite, though – waking up to the smell of fresh cornetti wafting up from the bakery downstairs, and stepping out to quiet streets before the tour groups descend.
All in all, if you’re after a place that feels lived-in and genuine, Loft 17 is a solid pick – especially with that 9.2 rating that’s well-deserved. It’s not the cheapest at around 150-200 euros a night in peak season, but for the location and that personal touch, it’s worth it. I’ve stayed in fancier spots in Verona, but this one left me with that warm, “I could totally come back” feeling. If you’re visiting for the romance of Juliet’s balcony or just to soak up the history, book it – just remember to pack light for those stairs, and maybe time your trip for shoulder season in spring when it’s less crowded and the wisteria on the nearby walls is blooming like crazy.

Our entire stay was amazing. It far exceeded our expectations and the unit was far more than expected. Proximity to all tourist venues, sightseeing and transport was first class. Our host met us on arrival exactly as planned & provided all necessary information.
What could be improved: There was absolutely nothing to complain about.A great place to stay right next to the arena. – Edith from Germany – 30 June 2024 (9/10)
The location was great – the arena is only two minutes away. Perfect for the opera! The roof terrace is lovely. Thanks to Alessandro who had lots of useful tipps and recommendations for us.
Very good – Emilie from Switzerland – 6 May 2024 (8/10)
Location is amazing. Flat very well furnished with washing machine and hanger for clothes, as well as nice kitchen appliances. Super cool shared terrace on the roof with views of the arena.
What could be improved: Noisy industrial ventilation across the street, so not very comfy to let windows open. Windows close and reduce the noise well.
The floor was not cleaned when we arrived (hair and crumbs on the floor in kitchen, bathroom and room), tooth glass with hair inside and not clean so I washed it myself. We had to ask the host who sent the cleaning lady the next morning.
Dish washer clearly was missing salt and rinsing product, so the dishes in the cupboard had a soap remains, we had to rinse them all before use. When asked the host provided both quickly.

Spotless studio flat, central but quiet.
Beautifully appointed with washing machine, diswasher, full kitchen, TV and plenty of storage.
Iron, hair dryer, kettle, sharp kitchen knife.. all great.
Also the excellent roof patio.
Fast symetric WiFi tops it off.
Really good. Your cleaner deserves an award.
