Lovely Apartment Sottoriva Overview
First Impressions
Walking down Via Sottoriva for the first time, you might almost miss Lovely Apartment Sottoriva — and that’s actually part of its charm. This four-star property sits right in the thick of Verona’s historical center, tucked into one of those narrow medieval streets that feels like stepping back in time. The building itself has that weathered stone look you’d expect from something that’s been watching over this city for centuries, but once you’re inside, it’s clear someone’s put real thought into making this place work for modern travelers.
Location Magic
Honestly, the location here is pretty spectacular — couples seem to think so too, rating it 9.7 out of 10. You’re literally steps away from Piazza delle Erbe, which means you can grab morning coffee at one of the cafes and watch the market vendors set up their stalls. What I love about Via Sottoriva specifically is that it’s one of those streets locals actually use, so you get this authentic slice of Veronese life right outside your door. The famous balcony everyone comes to see? It’s about a three-minute walk, but you’ll probably stumble across it by accident while exploring the maze of cobblestone streets around here.
The Space Itself
The apartment setup here really works well, especially if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two. Each room feels thoughtfully designed — not cramped like some places in these old buildings can be. The kitchen is actually functional (I mean, you can cook a real meal here, not just heat up leftovers), which is pretty rare for accommodations in this part of town. The windows open onto the street below, and while it can get a bit lively during evening passeggiata hours, that’s part of the whole experience of staying in the heart of things.
Daily Rhythms
What struck me most was how easy it becomes to fall into a local rhythm when you’re staying here. Mornings start with the sound of shop owners opening their doors and the gentle hum of Vespa engines echoing off the stone walls. There’s a little restaurant just around the corner that serves the kind of risotto that makes you understand why people get emotional about Italian food. Evenings, you can walk to the Arena in about ten minutes — perfect timing to catch an opera if you’re here during season, or just to sit on the steps and people-watch if you’re not.
Why Guests Love It
The thing about Lovely Apartment Sottoriva is that it manages to give you that authentic Verona experience without making you sacrifice comfort. You’re not staying in some sterile hotel chain, but you’re also not dealing with quirky plumbing or mysterious stains on the walls. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you consider that balance — it’s the kind of place where you can imagine actually living for a while, not just passing through. Plus, there’s something satisfying about having your own space in a city this beautiful, somewhere you can retreat to between all that wandering around ancient Roman ruins and Renaissance palazzos.

A great place for us to stay. Situated in the Old Town, walk to absolutely everything to see this beautiful old city. Caught the bus from the Stazione to San Ferme bus stop and walked from there with our bags. Close to the beautiful Cathedrals, arena, supermarket and restaurants. Also very close to the river. Everything was supplied by the Hosts and Vittoria was kind enough to meet us on site. Everything is supplied that you think you would need. Air conditioning was great as it was very hot weather.
