Maison Porta Leoni Overview
You know what struck me first about Maison Porta Leoni? The name itself tells you everything you need to know about this place’s character. It’s tucked away in Verona with that quiet confidence that only comes from buildings that have seen centuries come and go – and honestly, that’s exactly the vibe you get when you step inside.
I mean, let’s be real here – finding a place that actually feels authentic in a city packed with tourists isn’t easy, but this spot manages to pull it off without even trying too hard. The whole property has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which I actually appreciated after walking past so many over-the-top hotel facades. What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend the historical bones of the building with modern comfort in a way that doesn’t feel forced or fake. You can tell someone put real thought into the details – not just the obvious stuff, but the little things like how the lighting works in the evening or the way the rooms are laid out to catch natural light.
The location is honestly pretty perfect if you want to be close to the action without being right in the thick of the tourist chaos. You’re walking distance from all the major sights (and trust me, you’ll be doing a lot of walking in Verona), but when you come back in the evening, there’s this sense of retreating to somewhere more peaceful. I found the neighborhood had this lovely rhythm to it – busy enough during the day with locals going about their business, but it settles into something more residential as the sun goes down. The staff clearly knows their stuff too, and not in that rehearsed way where they rattle off recommendations they’ve memorized. These folks actually seem to live in the city and can point you toward spots that aren’t crawling with tour groups. The whole experience felt more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than checking into a typical hotel – which, let’s face it, is exactly what you want when you’re trying to get a real feel for a city like Verona. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering over breakfast not because you have to, but because you actually want to soak up a bit more of the atmosphere before heading out to explore.
Exploring Verona offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Italy’s city of love, from its ancient Roman ruins to its Renaissance palaces and world-renowned romantic literature connections.

The location was unbeatable. We went in summer and this accommodation was much cooler on the inside due to it being in an old building. We had everything we needed, it was perfect.

Great location, comfy bed, good shower, perfect for short stays. We stayed as family of four which was right but perfectly fine.
What could be improved: The place needed another fan because if you use the sofa bed that person has no cooling and can’t sleep.Lovely place, very central and pleasant stay – Kate from United Kingdom – 11 June 2023 (10/10)

The Apartment was very well located for a short stay in Verona. – Suzanne from Australia – 15 May 2023 (9/10)
The apartment was located just a short distance from the Bus 11, 12 & 13 stop from the Porta Nuova Station which was perfect and easy to find. The apartment was roomy and provided us with everything we needed for our stay in Verona. The owners allowed us early access to the apartment which was well appreciated. The apartment is extremely well located just near the old town and the Piazza Delle Erbe and a perfect spot to explore Verona.
