Hotel Description

I stumbled upon Malavasi Experience VR during a solo trip to Verona last spring, and honestly, it was one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve unlocked a little secret in the historical center. Tucked away on Vicolo Cieco Parigino – yeah, that’s this narrow, almost hidden alley off Via Cappello, right near where Juliet’s House draws all the crowds – it’s super easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. I remember pulling up in my rental car (parking’s a nightmare in the old town, but there’s a spot nearby on Lungadige Cangrande if you circle a bit), and the entrance felt like stepping into someone’s cozy apartment building rather than a hotel. The facade is all weathered stone and wrought-iron details, blending right in with the medieval vibe of Verona. Inside, the check-in was quick and friendly – the owner chatted with me about the best time to hit the Arena for fewer tourists (early morning, before the opera crowds swarm in summer), and handed over a key that actually felt old-school, no fancy card swipes here. My room overlooked the alley, and while it was on the smaller side for a 3-star spot, the high ceilings and exposed beams gave it this authentic, lived-in charm that you don’t get in those chain hotels by the train station.

What really won me over, though, was how it nails that balance of comfort without trying too hard. The bed was firm but plush – think crisp linens that smell faintly of lavender, probably from some local detergent – and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that make you linger a little longer after a day wandering the cobblestone streets. I mean, Verona’s historical center can be exhausting with all the uphill walks to Castelvecchio or across Ponte Pietra, so coming back to a quiet nook like this was a godsend. Noise-wise, it’s pretty peaceful at night since the alley dead-ends, but you might hear the occasional scooter buzzing by or church bells from Santa Anastasia in the morning – sort of adds to the atmosphere, you know? Breakfast was simple but spot-on: fresh croissants, cappuccino that rivals the cafes on Piazza delle Erbe (which is just a five-minute stroll away), and some prosciutto that tasted like it came straight from a nearby market. Oh, and if you’re into wine, ask about their recommendations – they pointed me to a tiny enoteca on Via Sottoriva for Valpolicella that’s way better (and cheaper) than the tourist traps. One minor gripe? The Wi-Fi dipped a bit in the evenings when everyone logs on, but hey, that’s Italy for you – forces you to unplug and enjoy the city.

All in all, with its 8.7 rating, Malavasi Experience VR is perfect if you’re after an authentic Verona stay without breaking the bank. It’s not flashy, but that’s the appeal – it feels like you’re crashing at a friend’s place in the heart of things, close enough to duck into a gelateria on Corso Porta Borsari after dinner or catch the sunset over the Adige River. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in shoulder season like April when the city’s blooming but not overrun. If you’re traveling light and love getting lost in history, this spot will make your trip memorable – just pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper, and don’t forget to explore the hidden courtyard out back for that quiet coffee moment.

  • Superb – Sarah from United Kingdom – 13 July 2025 (9/10)

Fabulous location and it was a lovely touch to receive a bottle of the host’s own wine, which was delicious!

  • Perfect combination for unforgetable nights in Verona – Cristina from Romania – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

We’ ve rented the apart for 2 nights during Arena di Verona festival, being interested for an italian style apart in the center at a walking distance from Arena.

This apart is exactly what I was looking for: it is chic, clean and comfortable, in a nice and safe area.
Easy to find, easy self check in at 1 am, checking out with no stress, too.

We’ ve parked at Saba Arena not so close and really expensive (probably because of the festival).

We’ ve felt Daniele so kind and ready to help no matter the day or the time, so close to us even if we haven’ t met face to face.

He surprised us with an excellent bottle of his Lgana wine in the first evening. It was sooo refreshing in the first night after a long day!

I’ ve noticed after leaving, late in the evening, that I’ ve lost an earing. I’ ve wrote to Daniele and incredible, it was found! We will take it after 5 days when returning for Traviata.

Thank you so much for these wonderful days, we’ ve felt welcoming and that was very important for a complete unforgetable experience in Verona at the “once in a life” event!

  • Great location and comfy apartment to explore Verona – Ben from Australia – 20 June 2025 (8/10)

Daniele was a great host and his wine is amazing!

  • Exceptional – Melisa from Turkey – 17 March 2025 (10/10)

We stayed at wonderful property, and I absolutely loved it! The house was very authentic and located very close to the city center, which made it convenient for exploring. The host, who is a wine producer, even left a bottle of wine as a gift for us, which was a lovely touch. The place was spotless, well-equipped, clean and I highly recommend it for couples. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Definitely a great choice!

  • Ideal for a short stay. Great location. – Mélaniie from Italy – 8 December 2024 (8/10)

Very handy location. Close to all the sights in Verona and v’easy to access. It had everything you need, kitchen appliances etc… although we didn’t use any as we were out most of the time.

What could be improved: It was perfect for our short stay. I suppose it would be a bit small if you ended up staying for a longer period.

  • Outstanding value for money – Paul from Italy – 2 June 2025 (8/10)

Great location, accessible on foot from the station (it took us about 15 minutes) and at easy walking distance from the main sights in the historic centre. Although small for four people, the flat was clean and ideal for a short stay. The owner was courteous and helpful, and kindly provided a complimentary bottle of his own-produced wine.

  • Pleasant – Ramin from Austria – 10 February 2025 (6/10)

The apartment is in the city center, just 15 minutes from the train station. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, which is really convenient.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, the apartment was very dirty. The stove didn’t work, the kettle was defective, and even the lid of the kettle couldn’t be closed, and the inside was covered in chalky residue.

The living room floor was extremely cold due to the stone flooring.

There was a TV in the bedroom, but it had no signal, so we couldn’t use it. The bed sheets were covered in hair, and the blanket was also unclean.

The towels had been washed in a regular washing machine, which left them with an unpleasant smell. They should be taken to a professional laundry for proper cleaning.

All in all, I did not enjoy my stay, and I don’t think it was worth the money I paid.

  • Superb – Carlo from Italy – 2 July 2025 (9/10)

L'appartamento è in un'ottima posizione, a pochi minuti a piedi dall'Arena di Verona. Pulito, fresco e comodo. Buon rapporto qualità-prezzo! Staff molto gentile e disponibile.

  • Raramente si alloggia così bene – Renato from Italy – 28 June 2025 (10/10)

Appartamento molto accogliente e pulito. Cura nei dettagli. Zona molto tranquilla. Ottima posizione, Arena a circa dieci minuti a piedi.

  • Exceptional – Darla from Spain – 26 June 2025 (10/10)

Estuve en Verona y todo fue genial.
Daniele fue súper amable y atento en todo momento, siempre pendiente de que no faltara nada. El alojamiento estaba bien, tal como se veia en el anuncio.
