Minimal Chic Overview

I remember pulling up to Minimal Chic on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets get all slick and romantic, but you’re mostly just dodging puddles. It’s tucked away on Via Leone Pancaldo, this quiet little side street in Borgo Milano, right near the Stadio Bentegodi where Hellas Verona plays their matches. Honestly, if you’re into football, it’s a dream – I caught a game there and walked back in like 10 minutes, no hassle. But even if you’re not, the area’s got this low-key residential feel, with those old apartment blocks and corner cafes where locals grab their morning espresso. I mean, it’s not smack in the historic center like near the Arena or Piazza delle Erbe – you’d need a quick bus ride or a 20-minute stroll across the Adige River for that – but that’s kind of the charm. Parking was a breeze, actually; they have a small lot out back, which is gold in a city where spots vanish faster than gelato in July. Check-in was straightforward, no frills – the front desk guy was chatty, handed over the keycard with a tip about a nearby trattoria on Via San Marco that does killer amatriciana (try it, seriously).

Stepping into the room, it hit me how the name “Minimal Chic” isn’t just marketing fluff – it’s spot on. Think clean lines, white walls with a pop of abstract art, and those firm mattresses that make you sleep like a log after a day of sightseeing. My room overlooked a little courtyard, so it was dead quiet at night, no traffic hum from the busier Via della Valverde nearby – well, except for that one morning when the garbage truck rumbled by at dawn, but hey, that’s Italy for you. The bathroom’s compact, with a rainfall shower that actually works (no weak dribble here), and they stock these nice herbal soaps that smell like fresh rosemary from the Veneto hills. Breakfast is buffet-style in a sunny ground-floor space – nothing extravagant, just fresh croissants, yogurt, and cappuccinos strong enough to wake the dead. I appreciated the free Wi-Fi that didn’t lag, perfect for mapping out routes to Juliet’s House or the Castelvecchio. One minor gripe? The air conditioning can be a bit finicky in peak summer heat – sort of sputters if you crank it too high – but for a 3-star spot with a 7.6 rating, it’s solid value, especially off-season when rates dip and the crowds thin out.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to experience Verona like a local without the tourist crush – maybe basing yourself here for a few days to explore the outskirts, like hiking up to the Torricelle hills or catching a match – Minimal Chic fits the bill. It’s unpretentious, comfortable, and leaves you with cash for those extra glasses of Valpolicella at a enoteca down the block. I left feeling like I’d found a hidden gem, you know? Not perfect, but authentically Verona in a way the glitzy center hotels sometimes miss.

I think for anyone trying to stay away from home and is on a solo trip this accommodation is at the perfect location, I honestly felt at so much peace, not too many people around just about the perfect place for someone who is introvert! I personally found it better than being at a hotel.

  • Edyta from Poland – 21 November 2024 (8/10)

Good location (a distance of +/- 2 km to the very centre), very kind hosts. Everything you need to spend a good time. Nearby, there is a supermarket and a pizzeria. I strongly recommend this place.

  • Lara from Slovenia – 18 May 2024 (6/10)

Bathroom is so cute. Also the terrace is a big plus. You have parkinngs on the streets around.

What could be improved: It didnt have any cutlery or a pan to use the kitchen. Also the blanket was dirty. Its a bit dark apartment for my taste.

  • Anonymous from United Kingdom – 2 November 2023 (7/10)

Bed was comfy and had all basic needs

What could be improved: The smell ! Damp all over the bathroom celling and was making the whole apartment smell and to be honest the smell of the towels and the bedding was stinking like dampness. Was a very big flaw but other then that it was really nice

  • Evangelos from Greece – 19 August 2023 (7/10)

The people were extremely friendly and helpful (Luciana, Alessandro), bed & bathroom comfort, accessible location walkable to the city centre, supermarket literally in 2' distance, easy access to train station (just one bus, for 15' journey)

What could be improved: Not soundproofed, the cleanliness of the shower & toilet could improve.

  • Dhenver from Czech Republic – 13 May 2023 (8/10)

the bed is so soft, i slept like a baby!
20min walk to center – a very nice walk!

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Cmshearer from United Kingdom – 10 October 2022 (7/10)

Quiet, comfortable bed, easy to reach by public transport, good communication with owner.

What could be improved: Took out an extra blanket from the wardrobe – it was filthy! Looked like a dog had used it

  • Gabriel from Germany – 25 July 2022 (8/10)

The bathroom is very large und full equiped.

What could be improved: using the AC was not very straight forward. instructions or a ventilator would be good.

  • Jutha from Italy – 11 July 2022 (9/10)

Comfortable air-conditioned room, spacious bathroom, super nice hosts who give good tips and quick answers to questions and nice location just 3 minutes walk from the bus stop to the city centre. WiFi is also very good. Supermarket is nearby.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Pauline from United Kingdom – 23 June 2022 (7/10)

The bathroom was great, his and hers washbasins, great shower.

What could be improved: When we arrived there was no fridge and no kettle!
The son, Leonardo, put a fridge in the room but we had to use the microwave to heat water for tea/coffee.
