The name literally means “niche” in Italian, and honestly, that’s exactly what this place is — a perfect little hideaway that most tourists walk right past without noticing. I mean, Vicolo Tre Marchetti is so narrow you could practically touch both sides if you stretched your arms out, but that’s part of the charm of this four-star boutique property.

You know what’s incredible about staying here? You’re literally in the heart of everything, but somehow it feels peaceful once you step inside. The location score of 10.0 isn’t just marketing fluff — I could walk to Juliet’s balcony in about three minutes, and the Arena di Verona was maybe a five-minute stroll through those gorgeous medieval streets. What I loved most was how couples seem to gravitate toward this place (they rate the location a perfect 10.0 for romantic trips), and after spending time here, I totally get why.

The Experience

The room I stayed in had this wonderful mix of historic character and modern comfort that you don’t always find in Verona’s older buildings. The stone walls and original architectural details reminded me constantly that I was sleeping in a building with serious history, but the amenities were thoroughly contemporary. Actually, what struck me most was how quiet everything was despite being right in the Città Antica — the thick walls really do their job of keeping the outside world at bay.

Here’s something you won’t read in most hotel descriptions — the staff actually knows the neighborhood like locals, not just hotel employees. They pointed me toward this tiny osteria around the corner that I never would have found on my own, and suggested the best times to visit the major sights when the crowds thin out. The 9.2 rating makes perfect sense when you experience this kind of genuine local knowledge firsthand. Plus, being on such a small street means you feel like you’re staying in a residential part of old Verona rather than a tourist zone.

  Very clean and modern. Sparkling!
  Alberto the host was wonderfully helpful in talking about Verona and provided much useful information.
  
  What could be improved: Took several minutes to get water warm enough for shower. Building was warm and so had to leave windows open at night, lots of street noise.

  Alberto met us at the property, showed us all the amenities and handed over two key cards. The mini bar prices were exceptional reasonable although we didn't use any! The location is very close to the arena, in a street that is very well lit and has several restaurants. Our room was quiet despite the ambient noise from the street below, so we slept well! The lack of a lift may be bothersome for some but it wasn't a problem getting our luggage up the stairs.
  
  What could be improved: There was nothing to dislike. We would/will stay here again when next visiting Verona.

  Everything has been done to a very high standard with quality materials. Very luxurious, convenient and comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing really. Light switches a bit confusing and couldn’t figure out how to ignite the gas hob so had to light a paper from the electric grill.

  This is an exceptional property; we were met with a warm welcome and were blown away by the perfect location and high standard of the accommodation. Every need catered for including maps of the city, recommendations of places to eat and visit. The cleanliness of the property was flawless, clean quality linens and a spotless shining kitchen.

  If you are going to watch an opera at the Verona Arena, the location cannot be more perfect. I even managed to go back to use the toilet during the 20mins break instead of queuing for the venue toilets.
  
  Even if you are not going to the opera, the location is still very central, right next to the shopping street, in the thick of things.
  
  Alberto also thoughtfully put together a list of places to see and eat. I really liked that and went back to one of his recommended restaurant quite a few time. It was that good.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing really. I asked for an iron and ironing board, and it was set up pronto for me. Superb service from Alberto, who speaks English fluently.

  Superior communication from Alberto prior and during our visit, both via text/WhatsApp and in person— not only about the rental, but about our stay in Verona, which greatly helped make it one of the most incredible experiences in our lives! The room is newly remodeled, spacious, and PERFECTLY located on a small street one block from the arena.

  The apartment is situated in the heart of Verona, 300 steps (counted!) from the famous Arena, so if you come for opera night, NIcchia is the best place to stay. The decoration is very tasty and stylish. Kitchen is very well equipped, everything is brand new. There are variety of soft drinks, coffee and tea, as well as oil, vinegar, tomato sauce in case you decide to prepare your pasta.
  Upon arrival, the apartment was clean, everything was spick and span. WiFi is excellent. A balcony with chairs and a table (to have a breakfast or apperceptive) is another positive characteristic of the apartment.
  And of course, Alberto (the manager) is one of the best hosts. Grazie, Alberto, per la vostra professionalità e gentilezza!
