I mean, you notice it in small things – the way they remember your coffee preference after the first morning, or how they’ll quietly adjust the air conditioning before you even realize you’re too warm. The rooms have this perfect balance of traditional Italian elegance without feeling stuffy or museum-like. You know what I loved? The linens actually smell like they’ve been line-dried (though I suspect they weren’t), and the bathroom marble feels substantial under your feet, not like those thin slabs you get in chain hotels. The shower pressure is excellent, which honestly can make or break a stay for me.

The breakfast spread is where this place really shows off – fresh pastries that are clearly made on-site, local cheeses I’d never tried before, and coffee that’s strong enough to wake the dead but smooth enough that you don’t need sugar. I actually found myself getting up earlier just to spend more time in the breakfast room, watching the morning light filter through the windows. The evening aperitivo hour is something you shouldn’t skip either – they serve these little cicchetti that pair perfectly with their wine selection, and it’s a great way to chat with other guests who clearly know their way around Italy. With a 9.9 rating, you’d expect things to be pretty polished, but what surprised me was how relaxed and unpretentious the whole experience felt. Sure, there were a few minor things – the WiFi could be stronger in some corners of the building, and the elevator makes this charming but slightly concerning creaking sound – but those quirks almost add to the authentic feel rather than detract from it. This is definitely the kind of place I’d come back to, and more importantly, the kind of place I’d actually recommend to friends without any caveats.
