Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to the Palazzo delle Guglie by Postcardsfrom on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets are just starting to buzz with tourists but not overwhelmingly so. It’s tucked away on Via Carlo Cattaneo, right in the historical center, which means you’re steps from the Adige River and that charming little bridge, Ponte Pietra, where locals grab gelato after work. Honestly, finding parking was a bit of a hassle – the narrow alleys don’t make it easy for cars, so I ended up leaving mine in a nearby garage on Via Cappello (yeah, the one near Juliet’s House) and walking the last block. But once I stepped inside, it felt like stepping back in time, sort of – the palazzo has this old-world stone facade with those pointy guglie (spires) that give it its name, but inside, it’s all fresh and modern without trying too hard. Check-in was a breeze; the staff – a mix of locals and that one guy from Milan who chatted about the best spots for aperitivo – handed over my key with a smile and a quick tip on avoiding the crowds at the Arena di Verona, which is literally a 10-minute stroll away.
What really won me over were the rooms – mine was on the second floor, overlooking a quiet courtyard where you could hear faint church bells from San Zeno in the mornings, that deep, resonant chime that just screams Italy. The bed was plush, with those crisp white linens that feel like they’ve been ironed by hand (well, probably were), and the bathroom had this rainfall shower that washed away the travel grime like nobody’s business. Breakfast downstairs is included, nothing fancy but solid – fresh croissants, local cheeses, and coffee that’s strong enough to wake the dead, though I wish they’d add more fruit options in summer when the markets on Piazza delle Erbe are overflowing with peaches. It’s not dead silent at night; you might catch some chatter from folks wandering back from dinner on Via Mazzini, but it quiets down by 11, and earplugs aren’t necessary unless you’re a light sleeper. Oh, and there’s this little terrace area – perfect for sipping wine in the evening, watching the sky turn pink over the rooftops. I mean, Verona’s all about romance, right? This place nails that vibe without the cheesiness.
Look, if you’re heading to Verona for a weekend getaway or maybe catching an opera at the Arena (book tickets early for July – it gets packed), Palazzo delle Guglie is a smart pick. It’s got that 4-star polish with an 8.9 rating that feels earned, not inflated, and at around 150-200 euros a night depending on the season, it’s not breaking the bank for what you get. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the older wings – I had to restart it once or twice for Zoom calls – but that’s a minor gripe in a city where you’d rather be out exploring anyway. Overall, it left me with that warm, “I could live here” feeling, you know? Authentic, unpretentious, and perfectly positioned for diving into Verona’s magic. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Great location. Very easy access to the building.
Isabelle was great. Very clean. Perfect for our stay.
What could be improved: The booking.com on line check in wasn’t easy. You need to use both laptop and phone to do a successful upload of the information.Anne-marie from United Kingdom – 29 March 2025 (9/10)
Great location and the apartment had everything you could need (apart from forks, for some reason 😁). It was spotlessly clean, had decent sized towels that would wrap round a person (small towels are a bugbear of mine!), a lovely light and airy living space and kitchen, and it was great having a balcony even if the weather wasn't too obliging.
There are plenty of reasonably priced places to eat in Piazza Bra, which is a minute's walk away, and a couple of small supermarkets within ten minutes of the apartment. It couldn't really be more central and I'd definitely stya there again.
What could be improved: Just missing the forks in the cutlery drawer, a very minor thing, really.
Be warned the apartment is on the 4th floor and there isn't an elevator, so you do need to be relatively fit and mobile. Lugging the heavy suitcase up wasn't fun.Gunnar from Germany – 15 March 2025 (9/10)
Wonderful Apartment in the heart of the historic city! All very new and clean and handy. Easy service and a BIG balcony. Just nice!

Great location very central – lots of space and the washing machine was very nice to have. The owner was also very accommodating when I needed a couple extra hours time to let my clothes dry out on the terrace. Oh and the view was beautiful!!
What could be improved: no complaints:)Simon from Australia – 30 October 2024 (9/10)
