Hotel Description
You know, when I first stumbled upon Palazzo Duomo tucked away on Via Duomo—right there in Verona’s historical heart, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral itself—I thought, well, this is the kind of place that feels like you’ve accidentally time-traveled back to Renaissance Italy. It’s on the ground floor of this old palazzo (piano terra, as they say here), with the entrance at interno 2, and honestly, finding it after weaving through the narrow cobblestone alleys was half the adventure. I mean, Verona’s centro storico is a maze—think dodging Vespas on Via Mazzini or grabbing a quick espresso at one of those tiny bars near Piazza delle Erbe—but once you’re inside, it’s like the bustle melts away. The building’s got that weathered stone facade, all ivy-clinging and history-soaked, and my room had these high ceilings with exposed beams that made me feel like I was crashing in some noble’s spare quarters. Oh, and the smell—fresh linens mixed with that faint, earthy scent of ancient walls, you know? I arrived in late spring, when the tourist crowds are picking up but not overwhelming yet, and check-in was a breeze; the owner, this chatty local guy named Marco, handed over the keys with a map scribbled in pen, pointing out the best gelato spot two blocks away on Via Cappello (yeah, the same street as Juliet’s balcony—touristy, but fun).
What really sets Palazzo Duomo apart, though—aside from its solid 4-star vibe and that 8.4 rating that feels earned—is how it nails that authentic Verona experience without trying too hard. The rooms aren’t massive, sort of compact in that European way, but mine overlooked a quiet courtyard where I could hear the Duomo bells chiming softly in the morning—nothing like waking up to that instead of car horns. Breakfast was simple but spot-on: croissants still warm from the bakery down the street, cappuccinos that hit just right, and fresh fruit that tasted like it was picked from the Veneto countryside. (Pro tip: if you’re driving, forget about easy parking—Verona’s center is a nightmare for cars; I parked at the Arsenale lot across the Adige River and walked over the Ponte Pietra bridge, which was actually a highlight, especially at sunset.) It’s not perfect, mind you—the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours when everyone’s streaming, and if you’re sensitive to noise, the evening hum from nearby trattorias might keep you up until 10 or so. But that’s Verona for you; it’s lively, especially in summer when the Arena opera season kicks off and the streets fill with music lovers. I spent my days wandering to the Roman theater or sipping spritzes at bars along the river, then retreating here for that cozy, under-the-radar feel.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants to immerse in Verona’s romantic soul—maybe catching a show at the Arena or just people-watching in the piazzas—Palazzo Duomo is a gem. It’s not some flashy chain; it’s real, with those little touches that make you feel like a temporary local. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season in fall when the leaves turn and the crowds thin out. Trust me, you’ll leave with stories, not just selfies.

Reviews
Fantastic position for exploring the city.very comfortable bed. Perfect place for a couple to stay – Donald from United Kingdom – 16 July 2025 (9/10)
Comfortable bed, excellent shower. Very close to the centre
What could be improved: We had to request cups as there was only one at the apartment
Traffic noise, but given the narrow streets this was to be expected
For me it was a little dark, as my eyesight is not as good as it wasVery good – Hanna from Sweden – 3 July 2025 (8/10)
Location, close to everything
What could be improved: They didn't answer my questions and the Internet was badA good place which could easily be made excellent – David from Belgium – 23 April 2025 (8/10)
Great location, spacious apartment, comfortable furniture and bedding. Racks to dry clothes, lots of storage. Within the ZTL, but Parcheggio Centro is 1.7km away and was great and felt really secure at 10 Euro per night. Responsive hosts (until 1800 each day)
What could be improved: Apartment was missing items for the number of guests. 6 beds, but only 3 wine glasses, 5 placemats, 1 steaknife… No dishcloth or dish towels… the “cutting board” was tiny and had seen better days (photo), the kitchen sink assembly was not fixed, so the whole thing kept moving around and let water through the counter-sink gap. The Apartment is not registered with the city, so the owners are not able to request tourist access to the ZTL in your behalf. May not be an issue for all, but we would have liked to offload our heavy luggage. I ended up having to do a few trips to the parking to avoid leaving anything in the car. This could easily be a 9.5/10 apartment thanks to the “shell” and cleanliness (except for the washing machine – the inside of the the rubber seal had not been looked at in a while (photo). In fact, we found 2 pairs of socks in the machine from a previous visitor), but with the missing “content”, the rating drops a little. We would still come again without question. Overall a good experience.Great stay for a trip to Verona – Joanne from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (9/10)
Lovely location in Verona with good access to the city
What could be improved: The WiFi was very intermittentExcellent stay, close to everything! – Kathleen from Canada – 26 October 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location and close to all the amenities and the beautiful river. True Italian home experience and very spacious. There is a washing machine which was a blessing.
Helpful owner who carried my friends’ heavy luggage to the top floor.
What could be improved: We got the apartment on the top floor and there was no lift. But as I mentioned earlier, the brother helped my friends with all their heavy luggage.Great location and great cooking experience. – Heath from Australia – 11 October 2024 (9/10)
The location was great and the kitchen was very well stocked to cook anything. The owner was helpful and provided good instructions and suggestions.
What could be improved: The wifi wasn’t always reliable and there was some noise at night but no deal breakers.Superb – Abolfazl from Switzerland – 26 August 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Parking in the area is a challenge. We could not get a parking place at the property. But with the instruction we could park far away and walk back to the place. Landlord offered a ride from parking place back to appartmnent but I preferred to walk
Superb – Dajeong from Switzerland – 28 July 2024 (9/10)
Very beautiful and specious place.
Great location. We could go any famous attraction on foot, specially Arena in 12min.
What could be improved: The drain of bathroom was'nt good.We enjoyed our stay in Verona! – Susan from Australia – 25 July 2024 (7/10)
The apartment was spacious and the location was great. We could walk everywhere. The area was quiet.
What could be improved: The bedroom in the loft was too hot despite an air conditioner and fan in the lounge area. A fan in the loft itself would have been more effective. Lots of stairs to the apartment.Excellent safe location very large unit ; easily walked to key places including Arena – Ilze from Australia – 19 July 2024 (8/10)
Excellent safe location all key spots can be walked
Great cafes and bar very close
Great pasta making shop where you can taste the handmade ravioli
Host ALWAYS accessible and supportive
I was solo traveller so host very reassuring showed me map and was very patient to my questions
