Palazzo Reggiani – Lorenzo De Medici Overview

You know what really struck me when I first walked into Palazzo Reggiani – Lorenzo De Medici? It’s one of those places where you immediately feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special that most tourists completely miss. I mean, the name alone tells you everything – this isn’t some cookie-cutter chain hotel, but an actual palazzo with serious Renaissance pedigree. The Lorenzo De Medici connection isn’t just marketing fluff either; you can genuinely feel the history in these walls, from the original frescoed ceilings to the way the marble floors have been worn smooth by centuries of footsteps.

What I love about staying here is how it manages to be both grand and surprisingly intimate. The rooms – well, they’re more like suites really – have this perfect balance of old-world elegance and modern comfort that’s honestly pretty rare to find. The bathrooms are particularly impressive (I know, weird thing to focus on, but trust me on this) with these gorgeous marble fixtures that feel authentically period without being impractical. Actually, the whole place has this lived-in aristocratic feel rather than that sterile museum vibe you sometimes get with historic properties. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too – they’ll point you toward the best local trattorias and can arrange things like private museum tours that you’d never think to ask for.

Here’s the thing though – and this is why I keep coming back – the location gives you this incredible insider’s perspective of Florence that you just can’t get from the more obvious hotel choices near the Duomo. You’re tucked away in a quieter neighborhood where you’ll hear church bells instead of tour groups, but you’re still close enough that everything’s walkable. The courtyard is perfect for morning coffee (they actually serve a proper Italian breakfast, not some international buffet nonsense), and evenings there feel almost magical with the way the light hits those old stone arches. Honestly, with that perfect 10 rating, I’m sort of surprised more people haven’t discovered it yet – but then again, maybe that’s exactly what makes it so special.

Exploring Verona offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Italy’s city of love, from its ancient Roman ruins to its Renaissance palaces and world-renowned romantic literature connections.

The apartment was in a great location and only a short walk to parking as you are not allowed to park inside the city. Our host was fantastic and was in constant communication with us leading up to our stay. The host and his family were very hospitable and friendly and helpful. The apartment was absolutely bespoke and beautiful. Clean and comfortable. This was our favourite accommodation of our two trip around italy. We loved it so much we re-booked another night in Verona a lovely town.

We have stayed in Verona a few times now but this must be one of the most beautiful apartments we have ever seen. Amazing location, incredibly spacious, stunning architecture and decor and so easy to park our car. Our hosts provided snacks and our fridge was stocked with drinks including a special bottle of exclusive Prosecco. Giovanni, our host was fabulous. He was extremely kind and courteous and available anytime to assist us. We highly recommend staying here!
