It’s one of those places that feels like it’s been there forever, a restored 16th-century palazzo with that classic Verona stone facade, all weathered and charming without trying too hard. Honestly, checking in was a breeze; the staff – mostly locals who know the city inside out – greeted me with a genuine smile and a quick chat about the best nearby gelateria (it’s Gelateria Savoia, just a five-minute stroll away, if you’re wondering). No big lobby fuss, just a cozy reception area with some antique furniture that smells faintly of polished wood and fresh lavender from the little courtyard garden out back. And parking? Well, Verona’s old town is a nightmare for cars – think narrow alleys and ZTL zones – but they pointed me to a nearby public garage on Via Emilei that’s not too pricey, and honestly, once you’re here, you won’t need a vehicle anyway.

What really sets Palazzo Tiolo apart, I think, is how it blends that old-world vibe with just enough modern comfort to make you feel pampered without it being over-the-top. My room – on the second floor, up a flight of those creaky wooden stairs (no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing) – had these high ceilings with exposed beams and a view right onto the quiet street below, where you could hear the distant hum of scooters in the morning but nothing disruptive at night. The bed was ridiculously comfy, with crisp linens that actually smelled like they’ve been line-dried in the Italian sun, and the bathroom? Spotless, with rain showers and those fluffy towels that make you linger a bit longer. Breakfast is served in a sunny room overlooking the courtyard – fresh pastries, local cheeses, and cappuccinos that rival any café in town – and it’s included, which is a nice touch in a city where everything adds up quick. I mean, it’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the thicker-walled rooms, especially during peak season in summer when Verona’s packed for the opera festival at the Arena (which is only a 10-minute walk away, by the way). But that’s minor compared to the authentic feel – like you’re staying in a friend’s elegant townhouse rather than some chain hotel.

All in all, if you’re after a slice of real Verona life without sacrificing comfort, this place is a winner – that 9.5 rating isn’t hype. It’s quiet enough for a good night’s sleep after exploring Juliet’s House or catching a show, yet smack in the heart of things, so you can pop out for aperitivo at a nearby enoteca on Corso Porta Borsari.   Absolutely love the place! Cozy, comfortable, close to city centre, across the bridge are big supermarket, round the corner great cafe, comfortable beds, well equipped. What else you could possibly need? Great communication with the host!

  Fantastic location in the heart of the historic part of Verona. Well-equipped with everything we needed for our short stay and the host was very helpful with information and support. She met us at the apartment for an early check-in, showed us what we needed to know about the facilities and town (and even had a beautiful professional guidebook to the house and Verona), and made a taxi reservation for our early morning departure.
  
  What could be improved: It’s above the street’s recycling collection so every so often you could hear people open the bins. Not horribly disruptive but noticeable.

  Hello, the house we stayed in Verona was in the city center and extremely comfortable. The hosts have meticulously thought of every detail and have made a very clean, pleasant house that meets all needs. Although the house is on the first floor, it has an elevator and air conditioning. There is also very sufficient kitchen equipment. The hosts are extremely kind, polite and tolerant. I strongly recommend it. We were extremely pleased🙏
