Palazzo Venier Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Palazzo Venier? The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve stumbled into someone’s beautifully preserved family home rather than a typical hotel. I mean, with a 9.7 rating, I had high expectations, but this place actually exceeded them in ways I didn’t expect from a four-star property.
The thing is, palazzo hotels can sometimes feel a bit stuffy or overly formal – you know, like you’re afraid to touch anything. But honestly, this one strikes this perfect balance between elegance and livability. The rooms have these gorgeous original details (think exposed beams and period furniture that’s actually comfortable), but they’ve been updated with all the modern touches you actually need. The bathrooms are particularly well done – someone clearly thought about how real people use these spaces. I loved that the lighting was warm and flattering, not those harsh overhead fixtures that make you look like you haven’t slept in days.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff’s approach. They’re not hovering or overly rehearsed with their recommendations, but when you do ask about something – whether it’s dinner reservations or the best time to avoid crowds at nearby attractions – they give you answers that feel genuinely helpful rather than scripted. The concierge actually steered me away from a tourist trap restaurant and pointed me toward this incredible little osteria that I never would have found on my own. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold, especially when you’re trying to make the most of a short stay. The building itself has this wonderful lived-in quality where you can almost feel the history in the walls, but without that museum-like atmosphere that makes you whisper. I spent quite a bit of time just wandering the common areas – there are these lovely little nooks perfect for reading or just people-watching through the windows. The whole experience felt authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find these days.
Best hotels in Verona range from luxurious properties in the historic city center to boutique hotels with stunning views of the Adige River and ancient Roman amphitheater.

A wonderful apartment in the heart of Verona's old town. When we arrived, the hostess greeted us with a cold bottle of sparkling wine. The bedroom led to a wonderful terrace where it was a pleasure to enjoy breakfast. Absolutely wonderful and I can happily recommend this apartment
