You know what caught me off guard about Penthouse ❤ Verona ✔ Arena@5min ✔ Self Check-In? I was expecting something flashy and tourist-trappy given the name and all those symbols, but this place actually delivers on the promise. I mean, when you’re literally five minutes from the Arena di Verona – and I timed it because I’m that person – you’d think you’d be dealing with crowds and noise constantly. But honestly, once you’re up in this penthouse space, there’s this surprising sense of being above it all, literally and figuratively.

The self check-in thing works better than you’d think, though I’ll admit I was skeptical at first. Got the codes about an hour before arrival, which gave me just enough time to worry about it not working (it did). The space itself feels properly penthouse-y without being pretentious – high ceilings, decent natural light, and these windows that actually frame the cityscape nicely. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed the sound situation. You’re close enough to walk to everything that matters in Verona’s historic center, but the double-glazed windows mean you’re not listening to every late-night conversation from the piazzas below. The kitchen setup is more functional than most vacation rentals too – I actually cooked breakfast there instead of just heating up leftovers, which says something.

Here’s the thing about staying this close to the Arena though – during opera season, you’ll want to either get tickets or resign yourself to hearing snippets of Aida drifting through the evening air. I found it charming, but if you’re planning to crash early after a long day of sightseeing, maybe factor that in. The location really shines for exploring beyond the obvious tourist spots. Casa di Giulietta is practically around the corner, sure, but you’re also perfectly positioned to wander into the quieter streets where locals actually shop and eat. Parking can be tricky in this part of town, but there’s a garage about ten minutes away that won’t break the bank. The 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not flawless, and the decor won’t win any design awards, but everything works well and the location is genuinely special. If you’re someone who values being able to step out your door and immediately be in the heart of things, this penthouse delivers without the usual compromises you make for convenience.

  The basic infrastructure here is among the best of any place I have ever stayed. However that is seriously undercut by issues noted below. On the plus side, the apt features a Nespresso coffeemaker that was not mentioned in the Booking.com listing (but with NO capsules provided). The location is strategic being between the train station and the city center (closer). It is generally quiet (but a neighbor puts out their dog several times a day and it barks non-stop).
  
  What could be improved: There is a foul sewer smell from the main bathroom — No, it does not disappear on its own! And it strongly detracts from the many positives of this apt. The management company is 100% worthless, providing info that mostly ranges from useless to wrong. They are amazingly stingy with all expendables (no coffee capsules; no liquid hand soap and only 1 small packaged bar for 2 people for 13 days; toilette paper; etc). I will definitely not stay in another property "managed" by LionHost again. It's too bad, really.

  Schön eingerichtete Wohnung, ruhige Lage.
  
  What could be improved: Leider war die Küche nicht ganz sauber und Geschirr war nicht gut gespült. War keine Seife oder Geschirrspülmittel in der Wohnung. Auf meine Anfrage habe ich einen Link für einen Supermarkt in der Nähe bekommen.

  The property was truly a gem, blending modern amenities with the charm of Italian style. Staying in this beautiful apartment was a delight, offering comfort and happiness in every corner.
  
  It is located 5 minutes from the Colosseum and all the shops and restaurants your heart desires.
  
  I cannot recommend this accommodation enough. Don't hesitate. Book it as soon as you can. You won't be disappointed.
