You know what caught me off guard about Porta Borsari Suite Astori? The name alone tells you exactly where you are – literally steps from one of Verona’s most impressive Roman gates. I mean, when you wake up in the morning and step outside, you’re basically having coffee next to a 2,000-year-old monument. It’s honestly pretty surreal, especially before the tour groups arrive around 9 AM.

This 3-star place has that comfortable, lived-in feeling that I actually prefer over those sterile luxury hotels. The suites are surprisingly spacious – and I say surprising because Verona’s historic center doesn’t exactly have room to spare. The owners clearly know what travelers actually need: proper lighting for reading (thank god), decent water pressure, and windows that actually block out the street noise. Speaking of noise, you’ll hear some activity from Via Corso Porta Borsari during the day, but it’s mostly just people wandering around admiring the Roman arch, not crazy nightlife stuff. The evening hours are actually quite peaceful once the day-trippers head back to their buses.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. They pointed me toward this tiny osteria tucked away on a side street that I never would have found otherwise – the kind of place where locals go for lunch and tourists somehow never discover. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. The location alone is worth it if you want to explore Verona on foot. You’re maybe a 7-minute walk from Piazza delle Erbe, and honestly, you can see Juliet’s balcony and all that touristy stuff without dealing with the crowds first thing in the morning. Plus, if you’re planning to visit during opera season (which, let’s be real, is probably why you’re in Verona anyway), the Arena is close enough that you can walk back to your room during intermission if you need to grab a jacket or something.

  Um “apartamento” na beira da rua, bastante espaçoso, com uma cozinha boa, cama gostosa, banheiro bom. A localização é boa e com uma pequena caminhada já chegamos nos principais pontos turísticos.

  Sapevo che non era prevista la colazione, posizione eccezionale nel centro storico di Verona. Gentilezza e cordialità del sig.Lorenzo che ci ha indicato anche il posto dove parcheggiare l'auto senza pagare nulla. (si è fatto trovare lì sul posto).
  
  What could be improved: L'unica pecca: non c'era la televisione anche se non ne abbiamo sentito la mancanza vista la bellezza del centro storico di Verona.

  Bellissimo appartamento in centro! Tutto è raggiungibile a piedi in pochi minuti. Pulito e i gestori sono stati molto cordiali e sono venuti incontro alle nostre esigenze di orari. Bellissimo potersi fare il caffè; è presente oltre alla biancheria, anche l'occorrente di base per poter cucinare.

  The location is perfect. Really central, everything easily reachable by foot. Many good restaurants nearby. The girl who let us in and showed us around was very friendly and had some great tips about parking and restaurants. Check in was super easy and they were really accommadating about our arrival time, we had many traffic jams and arrived a lot later (4 hours later) than expected. The apartment is spacious and the kitchen also has a microwave, which we found very useful. Air con is provided.
  For the price in central Verona definitely recommendable (if you don't need wifi).
  
  What could be improved: Firstly, on the website on booking.com it said the apartment had Wifi. However there is no wifi in the apartment.
  Secondly, a bowl that is presumably just used for decoration, had some bread in it which attracted ants. The rest of the apartment was clean though.

  What could be improved: nemam co vytknout, snad jedine- ocenila bych pripojeni k wifi. Kratkodoby pobyt ok,ale byla jsem delsi dobu. Velky hluk z cesty, ale to neni vina majitele a da se to pochopit vzhledem k poloze ubytovani v centru
