Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Posada Verona Hedge on Via Giberti – you know, that little street right off the bustle near Porta Nuova station – and thinking, wow, this place nails that old-school Italian charm without trying too hard. It’s tucked into the historical center, but honestly, it’s not smack in the middle of the tourist crush like some spots on Via Mazzini. I mean, you can walk to the Arena di Verona in about 10 minutes, dodging those street performers and gelato vendors along the way, or hop over to Juliet’s balcony if you’re into that romantic stuff. We arrived late one evening in May, right when the spring crowds were picking up, and check-in was a breeze – the front desk guy, Marco I think his name was, chatted us up about the best local spots for aperitivo while handing over the keys. No fuss, no long lines, though fair warning, parking’s a bit of a hassle if you’re driving; we ended up in a nearby garage on Via Valverde, which cost us an extra 20 euros a night. But hey, that’s Verona for you – narrow streets and all.
What really stuck with me about the Posada is how it feels like a cozy hideaway amid the city’s energy. The rooms aren’t massive – ours was on the second floor, overlooking a quiet courtyard with these ivy-covered walls that sort of muffled the distant hum of scooters zipping by. You get that fresh linen smell when you walk in, and the beds are surprisingly comfy for a 3-star joint, though the pillows were a tad flat (nothing a quick request couldn’t fix). Breakfast downstairs is solid – think fresh cornetti, cappuccino that actually tastes like it’s from a neighborhood bar, and those little jams from local producers. We spent one morning lingering over it, watching the sunlight filter through the windows, and it set us up perfectly for wandering to Piazza delle Erbe, just a 15-minute stroll away. Oh, and the Wi-Fi’s reliable, which mattered when I was mapping out a day trip to Lake Garda – no buffering issues, unlike some fancier places I’ve stayed. That said, the bathroom was on the small side, with one of those European showers that can feel a bit cramped if you’re tall like me, but the hot water never quit, even during peak hours.
All in all, if you’re looking for a spot that’s authentic without the hefty price tag – we paid around 120 euros a night off-season – Posada Verona Hedge is a gem. It’s got that 8.7 rating for a reason, you know? Perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to dip into Verona’s vibe without the overwhelm; families might find it a squeeze, though. I left feeling like I’d gotten a real taste of the city – the sounds of church bells in the morning, the faint scent of blooming hedges outside (fitting for the name, right?), and easy access to everything from hidden trattorias on Via Sottoriva to quiet evenings back at the hotel. Well, sort of – the street noise picks up around dinner time, but earplugs sorted that out. If you’re heading to Verona, especially in the shoulder seasons when it’s not sweltering, I’d say book it; you’ll thank me when you’re sipping wine on a nearby terrace, feeling like a local.

A short walk from Porta Nuova station – and a short walk into town. – Lucia from South Africa – 27 June 2025 (8/10)
The location is convenient if you want access to both the main train station and the historic heart of the city – being between the two. The street isn't particularly scenic but it's only a short walk into the charming parts of town. The communal kitchen/living room is a great 'extra'!
What could be improved: Not being able to check-in during the afternoon (the HOTTEST part of the day) is a bit rough, especially because access is all managed remotely (with instructions and a code sent to your mobile) so it's not clear why.Great stay and free wine in the fridge – John from United Kingdom – 20 June 2025 (10/10)
Great location between centre and railway station

Great stay for a city break in Verona – Rose from United Kingdom – 14 May 2024 (10/10)
Alberto was very communicative and friendly throughout. The check in process was easy and the room was spacious and clean. The shared facilities with coffee machine and wine were much appreciated and quiet. The location was 10 mins from the arena and the station. Would highly recommend and would visit again!
What could be improved: It was a bit noisy at night on the street but can't be helped with a central location.Exceptional – Teja from Slovenia – 1 May 2023 (10/10)
I really liked the simple check-in and that everything was really clean. Also the instructions were really clear, everything nice!
Grear little getaway for travelling – Jade from United Kingdom – 15 April 2023 (10/10)
The location is perfect. The room was really spacious with plenty of storage space. Everything was tidy and clean. The shared area was an added bonus, with drinks and snacks in the fridge for all.
What could be improved: The only issue we had was on the last day check out was at 11am. We were finishing up in our room when we got a knock on the door from the cleaner at 10:45. We let her know we were nearly done but she shook her head and walked off. We thought this was very rude of her, considering we were still within the check out time. This is no reflection on host or the stay in general, just a little inconvenience
