Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to PratoSanto on Via Prato Santo – it’s this narrow little street in Borgo Trento, you know, that neighborhood just across the Adige River from the old town. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first because Verona can be such a zoo in the summer, especially with all the opera crowds flocking to the Arena, but this spot? It’s tucked away enough that you don’t hear the constant buzz of tourists on Corso Porta Borsari or anything. We arrived around midday, and the check-in was a breeze – the staff spoke perfect English, handed over the keys with a quick chat about where to grab the best gelato nearby (turns out, there’s a hidden gem called Gelateria Ponte Pietra just a 10-minute stroll over the bridge). Parking was the real win here; they have a small private lot out back, which is gold in a city where spots vanish faster than you can say “Romeo and Juliet.” The building itself has that classic Veronese charm – think pale stone facade with flower boxes spilling over, and inside, the lobby smells faintly of fresh espresso and whatever herbs they’re growing in the courtyard garden. It’s not huge, but it feels lived-in, like you’re crashing at a friend’s elegant townhouse rather than some sterile chain.

What really sold me on PratoSanto – well, besides the name promising “relax in the heart of Verona,” which it actually delivers – was how it balances that old-world Italian vibe with stuff that makes traveling easier. Our room on the second floor overlooked the garden (ask for one facing inward if you’re a light sleeper; the street side picks up some early morning scooter traffic from folks heading to the hospital district nearby). The bed was ridiculously comfortable, with those crisp white linens that feel cool against your skin after a hot day wandering the cobbled streets to Castelvecchio. Breakfast is included, and it’s solid – fresh pastries, local cheeses, and cappuccinos that hit the spot, though I wish they’d rotate the fruit selection a bit more (it got repetitive after a few days). There’s a small spa area downstairs with a sauna and massage options – nothing over-the-top, but perfect for unwinding after hiking up to the Piazzale Castel San Pietro for those killer sunset views over the city. Oh, and the Wi-Fi? Surprisingly strong, even in the garden where I spent an afternoon working remotely. It’s a 4-star place, sure, but it punches above with little touches like complimentary bikes for exploring Borgo Trento’s quieter paths – we pedaled over to the Arsenale for a picnic, and it was blissfully uncrowded midweek.

Look, if you’re heading to Verona and want somewhere that feels authentic without skimping on comfort, PratoSanto is a smart pick. It’s not the flashiest spot – I mean, if you crave rooftop pools or 24/7 room service, maybe look elsewhere – but for couples or solo travelers who appreciate a peaceful base (especially outside peak July-August madness when the city’s packed), it’s ideal. You’re steps from the river walks, close enough to pop into the centro storico for dinner at a trattoria on Via Sottoriva, yet far enough to escape the noise. My stay there left me refreshed, honestly, and I’d go back in a heartbeat – just time it for spring when the garden’s blooming and the air smells like jasmine.

Reviews

  • Perfect base from which to enjoy Verona. – Christine from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic location close to the center of Verona yet quiet, great helpful and friendly hosts, really comfortable and very clean. The perfect place to be based to visit the town and area.

What could be improved: Nothing! It was perfect for our requirements

  • Good – Cem from Turkey – 1 May 2025 (8/10)

Clean , good location , easy checkin and out, parking was not prpblem

  • Spacious apartment at a walking distance from the main attractions – Eyal from Israel – 1 September 2024 (10/10)

The apartment has lots of space, divided by two doors, separating the bedrooms from the living room and kitchen, and from each other. The kitchen is functional to cook for a family, the coffee machine and tea, salt and sugar are welcome touches. The were many reviews about the check in process – it's actually very easy, just click your phone and turn the door knob (firmly). This makes it available for any member of the family to come and go, without having to carry a key.
The parking permit is perfect – just parked next to the building and forgot about the car until it was time to leave.
We were a family of five, with teenagers, and had a great time, thanks.

What could be improved: There is a bit of street noise, but not at a level that bothered us when the windows were closed.
The second shower didn't have a key to lock it, but this could probably be fixed easily.

  • Lovely place to stay in Verona. – Carly from Australia – 27 August 2024 (10/10)

Lovely, bright spacious apartment very close to the Garibaldi bridge. Very clean. Has everything you need. Short walk into town for sightseeing, restaurants etc.
Excellent location. AC worked well. Two large bedrooms with comfortable bed. Can’t fault it.
    Highly recommend.

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike.

  • Exceptional – Petzwinkler from South Africa – 24 August 2024 (10/10)

The apartment was clean and well equiped. Very close to centre.
Parking was easy in front of building. Instructions for access was easy

  • Wonderful location and simple but sufficient facility. – Atsuto from Italy – 23 August 2024 (9/10)

The location of the apartment is quite close from city center and it was convenient to access to the most of heritages in Verona. The facility of apartment is clean and big enough for staying 5 people of family.

What could be improved: This is not bad point, but this apartment door locking system is controlled by smartphone and we struggled to use it at the first time. More detailed instruction with supplement photos would be helpful.

  • Very convenient stop for quick sight-seeing in Verona – Mateusz from Poland – 21 August 2024 (9/10)

Very close to the historical city centre (jusf over the bridge) and easy parking in the street with the city card of the owner. A perfect location for a quick visit to Verona. Two bathrooms, very spacious.

What could be improved: Not the most cosy place that i have seen but clean and tidy.

  • Superb – Virginia from United Kingdom – 12 August 2024 (9/10)

Great location, nice neighbourhood and close to the centre, to walk in to the Opera in the arena. The apartment was roomy, and clean and perfect for our needs. Parking permit was really handy, although couldn’t get a space on the same street when we arrived back late one night, we just parked a little further away and moved the car the next day. Well equipped property, including coffee for the pod machine. Kids loved the big bedroom TV’s. Bizarrely only 4 forks thought.

  • great 👍 – Majid from United Arab Emirates – 5 August 2024 (10/10)

    everything was great

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Superb – Usa from Thailand – 3 June 2024 (9/10)

The room was clean and location is not far from attractions. Hosts are helpful and responsive.

What could be improved: If there is a washing machine, it will be great.
