Hotel Description
You know, when I first pulled up to PRESTIGE Apartments – Rustic Elegance on that narrow little alley—Vicolo Basso Acquar, tucked away in Verona’s Borgo Roma neighborhood—I honestly thought I’d taken a wrong turn. It’s not your flashy city-center spot; this is more like stumbling into a quiet corner of real Verona life, where locals zip by on Vespas and the air smells faintly of espresso from that tiny caffè around the corner on Via Scuderlando. I mean, Borgo Roma isn’t the postcard-perfect historic core with the Arena or Juliet’s balcony—those are about a 20-minute walk or a quick bus ride north across the Adige River—but that’s kind of the charm. You’re in a residential area that’s lived-in, with kids playing soccer in the streets after school and the occasional whiff of homemade ragù wafting from open windows. Parking was a bit of a hassle at first—those Italian alleys aren’t made for cars, so I ended up circling twice before spotting a public lot just a block away on Via Golosine, which worked out fine for 5 euros a day. But once I checked in (super smooth, by the way—the host messaged me a code for the door, no fuss at reception), it felt like stepping into a cozy, upscale hideaway that blends old-world Verona with just enough modern polish.
What really won me over was how the place nails that “rustic elegance” vibe without trying too hard. My apartment—well, it was more like a stylish flat than a standard hotel room—had these exposed wooden beams overhead that gave it a farmhouse feel, but paired with sleek marble countertops in the kitchenette and a rainfall shower that honestly made mornings a treat. I stayed in early fall, when Verona’s not swamped with summer tourists, and the evenings were blissfully quiet; you’d hear distant church bells from Santa Maria in Organo or the hum of the neighborhood winding down, but nothing disruptive. (Though fair warning, if you’re here during the Vinitaly wine fair in spring, Borgo Roma gets busier with folks heading to the nearby Fiera di Verona expo center—might want to book early.) The beds were plush, with linens that felt like they were straight from a high-end boutique, and I loved the little balcony overlooking the alley—perfect for sipping a morning cappuccino while watching the world go by. It’s not flawless; the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during my video calls, sort of spotty like in many older buildings here, but it bounced back quick. And honestly, having a full fridge meant I could grab prosciutto and cheese from the market on Via Centro and whip up a simple dinner—saved me from overpriced tourist traps downtown.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually living in Verona rather than just passing through, this place is a gem. With that 9.6 rating, it’s no surprise—it’s got that four-star polish but feels personal, like a friend’s well-kept apartment. I spent a week there, wandering to the Adige for sunset strolls or hopping the bus to Piazza delle Erbe, and it made the trip feel authentic, you know? Sure, it’s a tad removed from the main action, which might not suit everyone rushing to see the sights, but for couples or families wanting space and a taste of local rhythm—maybe dodging the crowds in peak July heat—it’s spot on. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for those crisp autumn days when the neighborhood chestnuts start roasting.

Nicole from Italy – 9 February 2025 (9/10)
Host molto cordiale e disponibile.
Sabina from Italy – 2 January 2025 (7/10)
