Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Relais Balcone di Giulietta almost by accident last summer – I was wandering through Verona’s historical center, dodging the crowds at Juliet’s House on Via Cappello, and there it was, tucked right into the courtyard. Honestly, if you’re not paying attention, you might miss the entrance amid all the love notes plastered on the walls and tourists snapping selfies under that famous balcony. But once you step inside, it’s like flipping a switch from chaotic romance overload to this serene, old-world hideaway. The building itself is one of those classic Veronese structures with exposed brick and wooden beams that creak just a little underfoot – you can smell the faint mustiness of history mixed with fresh lavender from the rooms. I arrived mid-afternoon during peak season, and the check-in was a breeze; the staff (mostly locals who know every shortcut in town) handed me a map with handwritten notes on avoiding the tourist traps around Piazza delle Erbe. Parking? Forget it – the historical center is a nightmare for cars, so I ditched mine at a lot near the Adige River and walked the five minutes over. Worth it, though, especially since the place is dead quiet at night, even with the occasional street musician echoing from Via Mazzini nearby.
What really sets this spot apart – and I mean, I’ve stayed in a few boutique hotels around Italy – is how it leans into the Romeo and Juliet vibe without feeling gimmicky. My room overlooked the courtyard, with a tiny balcony where I could sip espresso in the morning and watch the sun hit those ancient stones. The decor’s all soft linens and antique furnishings, nothing too flashy, but super comfortable after a day trekking to the Arena for an opera (pro tip: book tickets early in July; it’s magical but packed). Breakfast was a highlight – fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and that strong Italian coffee served in a cozy communal area that feels more like a friend’s living room than a hotel lobby. Oh, and the Wi-Fi’s surprisingly solid for such an old building, which saved me when I needed to reroute my train to Venice. It’s not perfect – the stairs are steep if you’ve got heavy luggage (no elevator, classic European quirk), and rooms can feel a tad snug if you’re traveling with kids – but for couples or solo wanderers, it’s spot-on. I even chatted with the owner about the real history behind Juliet’s balcony; turns out it’s more legend than fact, but that just adds to the charm.
All in all, if you’re hitting Verona for its Shakespearean romance or just to soak up the Veneto vibes, Relais Balcone di Giulietta is the kind of place that makes you linger. It’s not the cheapest four-star around (expect to pay a premium for that location), but with a 9.7 rating, you get what you pay for – authentic immersion without the hassle. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a secret nook in one of Italy’s most overtouristed spots. Next time I’m in town, maybe for the Christmas markets in December when things quiet down, this is where I’ll book again. You should too – just pack light and embrace the cobblestones.

Such a great hotel, room was beautifully decorated, have lots of free yummy snacks and drinks included with the room. So cool to have access to the Juliet courtyard when the crowds are all gone. Great location to see all the sites you want in Verona. Would definitely visit again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Magical – A Dream Come True!
Staying at Relais Balcone di Giulietta was truly one of the best experiences of my life! It felt like a dream from start to finish. We had the entire patio to ourselves, right where Juliet’s statue and the famous balcony are—it was beyond magical and so surreal!
The room was spacious, cozy, and beautifully designed, with an incredible balcony overlooking the city—a perfect touch. And the bathroom? Absolutely spectacular! Every little detail was just perfect.
If you're looking for a romantic and unforgettable stay in Verona, this is the place to be. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Perfect location for sightseeing, stunning property, beautiful rooms.
What could be improved: Only issue was not being able to get into the property until another guest let me in.
I was asked a time of arrival but there’s was no one answering the door when I arrived.
