Residence Taormina Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Residence Taormina? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you – and somehow that makes it even better. I mean, sure, it’s a 3-star property, but honestly, the 8.8 rating starts to make perfect sense once you settle in for a day or two.
The thing about staying here is that it feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than checking into a typical hotel. The residence-style setup means you get actual space to breathe, which is honestly refreshing after bouncing between cramped hotel rooms across Sicily. I found myself actually using the kitchenette – not because I had to, but because picking up fresh produce from the local market and making a simple breakfast felt so natural. The staff has this relaxed approach that I really appreciated; they’re around when you need them but never hovering. Check-in was smooth, and they seemed genuinely interested in making sure I knew about the quieter spots in Taormina that most tourists miss.
What really won me over, though, was how the place sits in relation to everything else. You’re close enough to walk to the main attractions without feeling like you’re stuck in the tourist chaos 24/7. I could slip back for an afternoon rest (which, let’s be real, you’ll want to do in the Sicilian heat) and then head back out refreshed. The building itself has character – not the glossy, sterile kind you get at chain hotels, but the sort of worn-in charm that feels authentic to the area. Some might call it dated, but I’d say it has personality. The rooms are properly sized, and honestly, after spending days exploring ancient theaters and wandering medieval streets, all I really needed was a comfortable bed and a decent shower – both of which delivered without any drama. The neighborhood gets properly quiet at night too, which was a blessing after some of the livelier places I’d stayed earlier in my trip. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like more effort than it’s worth – and I mean that in the best possible way.

Everything was very clean.
What could be improved: The neighborhood is very suburban and there are many strange people on the street in the evening / at night.Nina from Slovenia – 7 July 2024 (9/10)
The apartmat is clean with free parking and 10 min away from center with car.
Marissa from United Arab Emirates – 19 April 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location! The bus stops you need to get to the all the tourist attractions are just outside the apartment/2 minutes down the road! The unit itself is perfect for solo/couple travellers. Very clean & well maintained. It’s a bit dark as it’s on the ground floor & overlooking the back area of the apartment but it’s not a big deal for short stays/if you don’t care about the view. Francesca is incredibly helpful & responsive – sent detailed information about how to get in/ out of the apartment & answered all our Qs.
Romashko from Ukraine – 17 October 2023 (9/10)
Nice appartement for the fair price.
First we were a little bit disappointed about missing nice golden glasses, which were an eye catching at Booking pictures, and we had a marriage anniversary. But we talked to Francesca and after coming back from our walking by city we got it on the table. Apartment maybe not such big as it seems on the pictures, but more than enough to stay for a couple of days.Rosalind from United Kingdom – 18 July 2023 (9/10)
Good bathroom and kitchen team, comfortable bed and Aircon. Airlink to the bus station. 41 bus from the bus station to the door, 11 bus stop about 100m away into the centre of town and back for €1.25 person/journey and the 95 night bus stops close by.
Tal from Israel – 9 May 2023 (8/10)
the bed and shower were great. shower small but the water system was great. Linen was clean and fresh, pillows were comfy and not too big . close to a supermarket and a nice Chinese restaurant. nice quiet view from the big window, very private.
What could be improved: not enough toilet paper, kitchen not so inviting. lighting a bit on the bright side. it’s a small room and the light was rough.Nimesh from United Kingdom – 28 March 2023 (9/10)
What could be improved: No Wi-Fi connection.
