Residenza Alla Piazzetta Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Residenza Alla Piazzetta feels like stumbling upon one of Verona’s best-kept secrets. This three-star gem sits tucked away on Via Caserma Ospital Vecchio, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking — which is exactly what makes it so charming. The entrance has that understated Italian elegance where you know you’ve found something special without all the tourist-trap fanfare. I mean, when you’re literally steps from Juliet’s balcony but feel like you’re in a local neighborhood, that’s when you know the location is spot-on.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying at Residenza Alla Piazzetta — you’re in the absolute heart of Verona’s historical center, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. You can walk to the Arena di Verona in about three minutes, hit Piazza delle Erbe for morning coffee, and still retreat to this quiet little street when the day-trippers get too much. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location 9.7, which honestly doesn’t surprise me). You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the main drags that you actually get some peace in the evenings.
The Rooms
The rooms at Residenza Alla Piazzetta are what I’d call thoughtfully simple — nothing flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. What really stands out are the beds, and I’m not just saying that because the property gets rave reviews for them. After walking Verona’s cobblestones all day, you’ll appreciate how they’ve invested in proper comfort where it counts. The rooms have that classic Italian feel without being stuffy, and the windows actually open (you know what I mean if you’ve stayed in converted historical buildings before). Storage space is decent, and the bathrooms are modern enough to make your morning routine pleasant.
The Experience
What makes this place work is how it balances being in a historical building with actually functioning like a modern hotel. The staff clearly knows Verona well — they’ll point you toward the better restaurants that locals frequent rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. The building itself has character without feeling like a museum, and there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels authentically Veronese rather than generically Italian. You get the sense that this is how people actually live in the city center, not just where they put up tourists.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it comes down to location and execution. When you can walk out your door and be at Romeo and Juliet’s supposed balcony in two minutes, but also discover that perfect little osteria around the corner that serves incredible risotto, you understand why people keep coming back. The 8.7 rating reflects what you’d expect — a solid, well-run place that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s not trying to compete with the big hotels on amenities, but rather on giving you an authentic base in one of Italy’s most romantic cities. For the price point and the location, you’d be hard-pressed to find something better in Verona’s historical center.

Like: Great location, clean, well decorated, professional and nice host.
Unlike: This apartment has shared kitchen, equipped with microwave and coffee maker but not with cooking stove. There was not enough information about shared kitchen while booking…Najlae from France – 13 February 2025 (9/10)

We really enjoyed our stay at Residenza alla Piazzetta.
Our room was spacious and equipped with everything you need. It was also very clean.
The owner was super friendly as well. 🙂
What could be improved: The only thing that some people might find unpleasant is that the walls seem quite thin because you can hear noises from the neighboring rooms quite well.Anderson from Brazil – 21 September 2024 (9/10)
Manuela is the best host ever.

This apartment is clean, comfortable, and full of character, with charming little decorative touches. It's situated within easy walking distance of many of Verona's many attractions; for example, we were fortunate to attend the opera in Verona Arena, which is only a very short walk away. Also, this accommodation is very handy to local bus routes, making it easy to travel around the town and further afield. Maddalena is a very friendly and responsive hostess, and she made us feel welcome from our first meeting. Also, the ladies who came to clean the apartment are very kind and welcoming. Although situated in a central area of the town, we were impressed by how quiet and restful this apartment is.
As our departure from Verona was later in the day, we greatly appreciated being able to store our luggage in the secure foyer after checking out. Many thanks for a memorable stay!
What could be improved: Everything was great. A helpful tip for guests: the water pressure of the shower is very generous, so we found it's a good idea to aim the shower head downward when first turning it on, to avoid wetting the floor.
Our only regret is that we hadn't booked a longer stay here. We recommend this accommodation and we would definitely return!Annette from United Kingdom – 12 April 2024 (9/10)
Perfect location, just round the corner from the Arena, with breakfast cafe next door and Aldi below; lovely hosts who were there to meet us when we arrived early and let us leave our bags until lunchtime on our check-out day; fridge in the room as well as a kitchen shared with just one other room; lots of personal decorations throughout the flat.
What could be improved: View from the windows into the inner courtyard, but then not too surprised that we didn’t have a better view in the residential area.Longish walk from the train station.
