Residenza Astra Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Residenza Astra on Via Prato Santo, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical tourist hotel. The building has that understated Italian elegance — you know, the kind where they don’t need to shout about how nice they are because it’s just obvious. I mean, when a place scores 9.5 from guests, there’s usually a good reason. The entrance feels more like stepping into a well-appointed private residence than a commercial property, which honestly sets the tone for everything that follows.

The Borgo Trento Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in Borgo Trento, which locals will tell you is one of Verona‘s most desirable neighborhoods. It’s residential enough that you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it, but you’re still close enough to walk to the major sights without dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your door. The area has this lovely, lived-in quality with tree-lined streets and actual Veronese families going about their daily business. You’ll find genuine neighborhood cafés and shops here, not the souvenir-heavy spots that cluster around the arena.

The Room Experience

The accommodations at this four-star property really surprised me with their attention to detail. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than just furnished — there’s a warmth to the spaces that you don’t always get in boutique properties. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have that Italian flair for making even small spaces feel luxurious. What really struck me was how quiet everything is, despite being in a city center. You can actually open the windows at night and hear… well, not much of anything, which is pretty remarkable for urban Italy.

Practical Comforts

The staff here operates with that perfect Italian balance of being helpful without hovering. They know the neighborhood inside and out — ask them about dinner recommendations and you’ll get suggestions that locals actually use, not just the places that pay commissions. The property itself runs smoothly in that effortless way that only comes from experience. Little things work properly, the Wi-Fi is reliable, and there’s a general sense that someone’s paying attention to the details that matter to travelers.

Why Guests Love It

Honestly, I think couples gravitate toward this place because it strikes that perfect balance between intimate and sophisticated. You’re not staying in some massive hotel where you feel anonymous, but you’re also not sacrificing comfort or service. The location score of 9.4 isn’t just a number — it reflects how well-positioned you are to experience Verona like someone who actually lives there. Whether you’re planning romantic dinners or just want to wander the city’s quieter corners, Residenza Astra gives you that ideal home base where you can retreat and recharge between adventures.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Verona through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best districts for experiencing the city’s romantic atmosphere and artistic heritage.

Reviews of Residenza Astra

  • Janet from United States – 27 September 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: The water heater wasn't working during our stay, although they did attempt to fix it.

  • Petra from Czech Republic – 26 September 2024 (8/10)

The apartment is spacious, cozy, clean, and very well equipped. The keys were in the safe box to which we were given the code. The apartment is not far from the city center. We were satisfied and enjoyed Verona.

What could be improved: The bathroom had a problem with warm water in the shower which is uncomfortable. The basin drain needs maintenance (the water ran out very slowly). Self-check-in is mandatory through the Vikey link. This information was not mentioned before reserving the apartment.

  • Deirdre from Ireland – 14 September 2024 (8/10)

    Lovely and spacious, chic decor

What could be improved: We arrived to go to opera and there was no hot water so we had to have cold showers. I emailed host and booking.com but got no responses so very disappointed with the fact that there was no follow up. We had to figure out boiler ourselves and managed to change settings and get hot water the third day but the second shower was still only warm

  • Lesley-anne from Canada – 13 September 2024 (10/10)

    Location….very roomy….well stocked!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Emma from Sweden – 14 July 2024 (9/10)

    It was all great

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Joyce from United Kingdom – 7 July 2024 (8/10)

Check in and check out process was very easy and straightforward, especially with our late arrival!

What could be improved: Showers, there was only barely lukewarm water in both showers and shower pressure was very bad.

  • Alexander from United Kingdom – 25 May 2024 (8/10)

Good location near the centre. Comfortable beds and very clean.

What could be improved: The second shower only had cold water if the other shower was being used. Some coffee for the coffee machine would have been nice, or a few tea bags etc. We also struggled to get a response from the host when trying to book a taxi back to the airport at the end of our stay but they did text us eventually.

  • Kirill from Moldova – 20 April 2024 (10/10)

    Super!

What could be improved: All finest

  • I-lin from Taiwan – 16 March 2024 (10/10)

Excellent service! Vicky and her colleague were very friendly, helpful, and responsive. They assisted us with all kinds of questions, queries and trouble shooting from the beginning til we left. They made our stay in Verona unforgettable.

  • Luis from Japan – 7 January 2024 (10/10)

Really well located. Next to the city center. Easy access.
