Residenza Bacco – Porta Nuova Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Residenza Bacco – Porta Nuova, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another boutique hotel in the area. But you know what? Sometimes the places that don’t scream for attention end up being the ones that really get it right, and this four-star gem is exactly that kind of pleasant surprise.

The thing about staying near Porta Nuova is that you’re right in the thick of Milan’s business district transformation – I mean, you’ve got those gleaming Bosco Verticale towers practically staring at you, and honestly, the energy around here is pretty infectious. What I love about Residenza Bacco though is how it manages to feel like a proper retreat despite being surrounded by all that urban buzz. The rooms have this understated elegance that actually lets you breathe – none of that over-the-top design stuff that some places think they need. The beds are seriously comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything when you’re getting ready in the morning.

Here’s what really won me over: the staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dealing with jet lag or just need a decent restaurant recommendation. They pointed me toward this little osteria about ten minutes’ walk away that I never would have found on my own – the kind of place where locals go for proper risotto, not tourists taking Instagram photos. The breakfast situation is solid too, though nothing fancy – fresh pastries, good coffee (this is Italy, after all), and they don’t rush you out if you want to linger over your cappuccino while planning your day. One thing to note: the neighborhood can get pretty quiet in the evenings since it’s mostly business-focused, but that also means you’ll sleep well without the usual city noise. Plus, you’re a quick metro ride from anywhere you actually want to be – Brera, the Duomo, Navigli. The 9.5 rating this place has earned makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not trying to be the flashiest option in Milan, but it nails all the things that actually matter when you just want a really good base for exploring the city.

Reviews of Residenza Bacco – Porta Nuova

  • Parichart from Thailand – 28 February 2025 (10/10)

    Excellent apartment! Clean and well
    Equipped. Would recommend to friends.
Parking is very convenient. Would definitely stay here again when we go to Verona next time.

  • Marika from France – 15 February 2025 (10/10)

Clean big and cozy appartment with everything you need

    What could be improved: –

  • Amnorback from United States – 6 December 2024 (10/10)

The location was within walking distance to all of Verona's attractions without being difficult to access. The apartment was on street level, well appointed, clean, and had an excellent view of the Porta Nuova. We traveled with our young daughter, and there was a park right across the street! A beautiful residence and would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Verona.

What could be improved: The only downside was there was no laundry services on site, however our hostess provided excellent recommendations for nearby services.

  • David from United Kingdom – 11 October 2024 (10/10)

Great apartment for couples just 10 mins walk to the centre of town , handy parking bay and apartment is close to railway station too.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Diane from Australia – 2 September 2024 (10/10)

Everything was perfect for our stay

  • I-wen from Taiwan – 3 August 2024 (9/10)

Spacious and beautiful apartment. Detailed self check-in instruction. Kind and attending host.
The apartment is in close proximity to Porta Nuova and the train station. It is beautifully decorated, with cozy living room, large flat-screen TV that can stream our devices, comfortable sofa, large dinning table, well-equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds, and 2 bathrooms. The host Raffaella is very kind and helped us with early check-in. The location is perfect, with free on-site parking (though we didn't need it) so one can safely leave the car and just walk around the historic city center.

What could be improved: It'd be even better if there is a washing machine.
The bathrooms could use some towel racks or hooks to hang the used towels.

  • Abdulrahman from United Arab Emirates – 14 July 2024 (10/10)

Great host, big apartment, fully equipped. Close to downtown and train station

What could be improved: Nothing at all

  • Joanna from United Kingdom – 17 June 2024 (10/10)

The location was excellent and it was very well furnished.

What could be improved: One improvement would be to purchase a hairdryer with a lead long enough so you can sit at the mirror to dry your hair.

  • Joo from Singapore – 12 June 2024 (10/10)

Super clean place. The only thing is this place fits max 6 comfortably. We were 8 but Rafaela was very kind to set up beds for 8 of us. The sofa bed however wasn’t very comfortable. But all it needed was a thicker mattress on top that’s it.
Location was very near the train station too and near to centre of town

What could be improved: Nothing at all

  • Paresh from United Kingdom – 15 March 2024 (10/10)

    Everything.
Excellent place in a very good location.
    Everything nearby.
The owners were very helpful via whatsup
Walkable to everything including train station.
