Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Residenza Bacco – Porta Nuova after a quick train ride into Verona – you know, the station’s right there at Porta Nuova, so it’s just a 10-minute stroll down Via Valverde if you’re lugging bags, or you can grab a cab for like five euros if it’s raining. The address is on this quiet little loop called Circonvallazione Raggio di Sole, tucked into the historical center but away from the main tourist crush around Piazza delle Erbe. Honestly, my first thought was how unassuming it looked from the outside – sort of like a renovated townhouse with those classic Verona stone facades, vines creeping up the walls (which, by the way, smell faintly of jasmine in the spring). Check-in was a breeze; the owner, this friendly guy named Marco, greeted me with a espresso and chatted about the best gelato spot nearby – Gelateria Savoia on Via Roma, if you’re into pistachio like I am. No big lobby fuss, just a cozy reception that feels more like popping into a friend’s place.
What really sold me on the place – well, besides that 9.3 rating that’s totally earned – is how it balances old-world charm with the stuff you actually need after a day wandering Verona. The rooms are spacious for a 4-star in Italy, with these high ceilings and exposed beams that make you feel like you’re in a mini palazzo, but they’ve got modern touches like super-comfy memory foam beds (I slept like a rock, even with the faint hum of scooters outside in the mornings). Breakfast is served in this sunny courtyard – think fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and that rich Italian coffee aroma wafting through – and it’s included, which is a lifesaver when you’re trying to budget for arena tickets during opera season in summer. Oh, and parking – if you’re driving, there’s a garage spot you can reserve, but spots fill up fast in July when everyone’s here for the festivals. It’s not perfect, I mean, the Wi-Fi can glitch a bit in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and the street gets a tad noisy around rush hour with folks heading to the train, but nothing earplugs couldn’t fix. I loved how close it is to Castelvecchio – just a five-minute walk across the Adige River bridge, where you can catch those stunning sunset views over the water. And if you’re into history, it’s an easy jaunt to Juliet’s balcony without feeling like you’re in the thick of the tour groups.
All in all, if you’re visiting Verona and want somewhere that feels authentic – not some cookie-cutter chain – this is it. I stayed for three nights last fall, right before the leaves turned, and it was quiet enough to hear the church bells from San Zeno in the distance, which added to the romance. Sort of perfect for couples or solo travelers who appreciate a spot that’s got soul without the pretense. You’d be hard-pressed to find better value in the historical center, especially with that personal touch from the staff – Marco even tipped me off to a lesser-known wine bar on Via Sottoriva for some Amarone tastings. Go for it; you won’t regret waking up to that Verona magic.

The location was within walking distance to all of Verona's attractions without being difficult to access. The apartment was on street level, well appointed, clean, and had an excellent view of the Porta Nuova. We traveled with our young daughter, and there was a park right across the street! A beautiful residence and would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Verona.
What could be improved: The only downside was there was no laundry services on site, however our hostess provided excellent recommendations for nearby services.David from United Kingdom – 11 October 2024 (10/10)
Great apartment for couples just 10 mins walk to the centre of town , handy parking bay and apartment is close to railway station too.

Spacious and beautiful apartment. Detailed self check-in instruction. Kind and attending host.
The apartment is in close proximity to Porta Nuova and the train station. It is beautifully decorated, with cozy living room, large flat-screen TV that can stream our devices, comfortable sofa, large dinning table, well-equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds, and 2 bathrooms. The host Raffaella is very kind and helped us with early check-in. The location is perfect, with free on-site parking (though we didn't need it) so one can safely leave the car and just walk around the historic city center.
What could be improved: It'd be even better if there is a washing machine.
The bathrooms could use some towel racks or hooks to hang the used towels.Abdulrahman from United Arab Emirates – 14 July 2024 (10/10)
Great host, big apartment, fully equipped. Close to downtown and train station
What could be improved: Nothing at allJoanna from United Kingdom – 17 June 2024 (10/10)
The location was excellent and it was very well furnished.
What could be improved: One improvement would be to purchase a hairdryer with a lead long enough so you can sit at the mirror to dry your hair.Joo from Singapore – 12 June 2024 (10/10)
Super clean place. The only thing is this place fits max 6 comfortably. We were 8 but Rafaela was very kind to set up beds for 8 of us. The sofa bed however wasn’t very comfortable. But all it needed was a thicker mattress on top that’s it.
Location was very near the train station too and near to centre of town
What could be improved: Nothing at all
