Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Residenza Città Antica almost by accident last summer – you know, one of those trips where you’re wandering Verona’s old streets after a gelato from Ponte Pietra, and suddenly you’re in this narrow vicolo that feels like it’s straight out of a Renaissance painting. It’s tucked away on Vicolo San Pietro in Monastero, right in the historical heart of the city, just a stone’s throw from the Duomo and that bustling stretch along Via Mazzini where all the shops are. Honestly, if you’re not into the tourist crush around Juliet’s House (which is only about a 10-minute walk away), this spot is a godsend – quiet enough that you can hear the Adige River murmuring in the evenings, but close to everything without feeling like you’re in the middle of a postcard stampede. I arrived a bit frazzled from the train station, lugging my bag over those uneven cobblestones, and check-in was a breeze; the staff – this friendly older guy who chatted about the best local osterias – had me settled in no time, even though I showed up earlier than expected. Parking? Well, forget it if you’re driving; Verona’s centro storico is a nightmare for cars, but there’s a public lot nearby on Lungadige Cangrande that’s doable if you plan ahead.
What really won me over, though, was how the place feels like a lived-in slice of Verona rather than some glossy chain hotel. It’s a 4-star spot, sure, but more like a cozy residenza with these high-ceilinged rooms that have exposed beams and that faint, comforting smell of aged wood mixed with fresh linens – you know, the kind that makes you want to kick off your shoes and flop down immediately. My room overlooked a tiny courtyard (complete with potted lemon trees, which was a nice touch in July’s heat), and the bed was ridiculously comfortable, though I will say the bathroom was on the compact side – fine for a solo traveler like me, but couples might bump elbows a bit. Breakfast was a highlight: served in this sunny little room downstairs, with homemade crostini, local cheeses, and coffee that actually tastes like Italy, not watered-down hotel brew. Oh, and the Wi-Fi was solid, which mattered when I was mapping out a day trip to Lake Garda. Noise-wise, it’s pretty peaceful, especially at night, but if you’re a light sleeper, those church bells from San Pietro in Monastero chime early – sort of charming, I mean, but pack earplugs if you’re not a morning person. The staff threw in tips too, like avoiding the Arena crowds by going for evening opera tickets in peak season.
All in all, if you’re heading to Verona for the romance or the history – think wandering to Piazza delle Erbe for aperitivo or catching a show at the ancient amphitheater just blocks away – this place is a smart pick. It’s got that authentic vibe without trying too hard, and with a solid 8.9 rating, it’s clear others feel the same. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the streets are quieter and you can really soak in the atmosphere. Just remember to wear comfy shoes for all that walking – those historic alleys aren’t forgiving on your feet.

I don’t think there’s anything not to like about this accommodation. Everything about this place is just perfect. The area is beautiful, the flat is superb, the host is extremely helpful, shops, restaurants are less than 2 minutes walk away. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this hidden gem again and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who wants to visit verona

Located in the centro storico, the old historical part of Verona. The Pizza del Erbe is less than 200m away, and the Piazza Bra with the amphit theater about 600m. But it is absolutely quiet because it is located in a small vicolo.
There is a fully equipped kitchen (plates, cups, glasses, cuttlery, a fridge, a deep frezer, a microwave, a stove, an oven, a coffee maker and even a dish washer).
Further more there is a dining table with four comfortable chairs, a sitting room, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom with a washing machine.
The sofa in the sitting room can be converted into a second double bed. Thus, up to four people can stay there with still plenty of space to move.
The best thing about it is that it is on the ground floor and it was easy to bring my bicycle and my bicycle trailor in. The only downside for people travelling with a car is that there is no parking lot nearby. One has to unload and then park the car in public garages, which do exist outside the centro storico (historical center) of Verona.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was fine!Walaa from Germany – 8 August 2022 (9/10)
the apartment was really great, it is located in a very quiet street so can rest very well. You are steps away from the old city and don‘t need to use the Buses.
it was very comfortable clean, was just like the photos.
What could be improved: Nothing, you would enjoy your stay very much.Pablo from Costa Rica – 13 July 2022 (9/10)
The apartment size was great (something hard to get in Europe). Eventhought the apartment is on the same level as the street, it is located in a very quiet and private street and so you can rest very well. You are steps away from the Piazza Delle Erbe and the peatonal streets with plenty of restaurant options. The air conditioner located in the middle of the apartment was very much appreciated for the summer night that we stayed on.
What could be improved: Nothing, we would say you would enjoy your stay very much.
