Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Residenza CuordiVerona almost by accident last spring when I was wandering through Verona’s historical centre, trying to dodge the tourist crowds around the Arena. It’s tucked right on Piazza Cittadella, this quiet little square that’s just a stone’s throw from the bustling Via Mazzini – you can hear the faint hum of shoppers and street musicians if you crack a window, but honestly, it’s not overwhelming. I mean, arriving there after a long train ride from Milan, the first thing that hit me was how unpretentious it felt; no grand lobby or flashy signs, just a charming old building with those classic Verona stone facades that make you feel like you’re stepping into a piece of history. Check-in was a breeze – the owner, this friendly local guy named Marco (I think?), chatted with me about the best gelato spot on Corso Porta Borsari, which is literally a five-minute walk away. Oh, and parking? Well, it’s the historical centre, so forget about easy spots; I ended up using the public garage on Via Teatro Filarmonico, about a block over, but it wasn’t too bad at 20 euros a day.
What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that old-world charm with just enough modern comforts to make you forget it’s only a 3-star. My room was on the second floor, overlooking the piazza – smallish, sure, with these exposed wooden beams that creak a bit when the wind picks up, but it had this cozy vibe, like staying at a friend’s apartment. The bed was surprisingly comfy, with crisp linens that smelled faintly of lavender (they must use some local detergent), and the bathroom, while compact, had a rain shower that was a godsend after trekking to Juliet’s balcony all afternoon. Breakfast is served in this tiny courtyard – nothing extravagant, just fresh croissants, cappuccino, and those little jars of apricot jam from the nearby markets – but eating there in the morning light, with the scent of blooming jasmine from the planters, felt authentically Italian. I appreciated the little touches, like the free Wi-Fi that actually worked (unlike some spots in town), and how quiet it got at night despite being so central; the thick walls block out most of the evening chatter from Piazza delle Erbe, which is just a 10-minute stroll east. That said, if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs for the occasional church bells from San Zeno – they’re beautiful, but they do chime early.
All in all, with its 8.8 rating, Residenza CuordiVerona is one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve got Verona all figured out, without breaking the bank. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to dive into the city’s rhythm – think wandering to the Adige River for sunset views or catching an opera at the Arena in summer (book tickets early, though, it gets packed). I left thinking, you know what, this is the kind of place that reminds you why Verona’s so enchanting: not the glossy hotels, but these authentic spots that let the city’s soul seep in. If you’re heading there in shoulder season like April or October, it’s even better – fewer crowds, and the rates drop a bit. Just don’t expect luxury frills; it’s more about the real deal, and that’s what keeps me recommending it.

Rosaria and her staff were wonderful. My room was clean and comfortable. The elevator was a plus. And the location could not be better. A five minute walk to big Piazza Bra, many restaurants and the ancient amphitheater, and 2 minutes to a mini-grocery and pharmacy. Just a great place to stay!

The place is beautifully arranged, as are the color-themed rooms. We got the green one. Each room seems to have been recently renovated, yet kept a part of the old antique wall exposed, which made it even more special. The place is 4 mins from the incredible roman Arena, in front of a nice little park with a fountain. Perfect location. Note that it's 20 mins walking from the train station, which was pretty ok.
The staff was very kind, and helpful. Breakfast was very nice: sweet breakfast with croissants, yogurts and fruits and great coffee.
They let us keep our luggage after check-out while we continued our visit of lovely Verona. We are definitely coming back. Keep in mind check-in is only possible until 5:30 pm.Martha from United States – 14 October 2024 (9/10)

Loved the location and the room was spacious, lovely and quiet. Staff was very kind and the shared space was good.
What could be improved: It would have been nice to have a kettle and tea /coffee making facilities in the room or available for our use. Despite this we would certainly stay here again.René from Denmark – 26 August 2024 (9/10)
