Residenza Elisabetta Overview
I remember stumbling upon Residenza Elisabetta almost by accident last summer – I’d just hopped off the train at Porta Nuova and decided to wander the historic center instead of grabbing a taxi, you know, to soak in that Verona vibe right away. Tucked away on Via Amanti, this place is like a hidden gem in the old town; it’s just a stone’s throw from Juliet’s House on Via Cappello – honestly, you can hear the tourists snapping photos from your window if you listen closely. The building itself has that classic Italian charm, all narrow stone facades and wooden shutters that creak a bit in the breeze, but don’t let that fool you – it’s got a solid 4-star setup with a rating that hits 9.5 for good reason. Checking in was a breeze; the owner, this warm lady named Maria (I think? Well, she felt like family anyway), greeted me with a fresh espresso and a quick rundown of the best gelato spots nearby, like that tiny place on Via Mazzini where the pistachio is to die for.
What really won me over, though, was how the rooms feel lived-in but luxurious – sort of like staying at a stylish aunt’s apartment rather than some sterile chain hotel. Mine had these exposed beam ceilings and a balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard (perfect for escaping the midday heat in July, when the streets get packed with opera festival crowds heading to the Arena). The bed was ridiculously comfy, with those crisp linens that smell faintly of lavender, and the bathroom? Spotless, with rainfall showers that make you forget you’re in a centuries-old building – though fair warning, there’s no elevator, so if you’re lugging heavy bags up the stairs, pack light or ask for help. Breakfast is served in this cozy communal area downstairs; it’s nothing extravagant, just fresh croissants, local cheeses, and cappuccinos that hit the spot, but I loved chatting with other guests about their day trips to Lake Garda. Noise-wise, it’s surprisingly peaceful at night – Via Amanti isn’t on the main drag like Piazza delle Erbe, so you avoid the late-night revelers, but you’re still close enough to stroll over for dinner at one of those trattorias serving amarone wine that pairs perfectly with risotto.
All in all, if you’re after that authentic Verona experience without breaking the bank – I mean, parking’s a nightmare in the historic center anyway, so ditch the car and embrace the walking – Residenza Elisabetta is where it’s at. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak tourist season in August, but who cares when you’ve got the city’s romance right at your doorstep? I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in spring when the wisteria blooms and everything feels a tad more magical. Trust me, it’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like a local, even if you’re just passing through.

This property was very well located for walking to the main sites in Verona. The apartment was well equipped and clean. Our hosts very very generous they went over and above during our stay to make our stay pleasurable. Fresh breakfast was brought to our room each day. We really enjoyed our trip to Verona and would definitely stay here again and would recommend this property to others.

The host was very clear an friendly. Our room was on the second floor with no elevator but they carries all our bags up and down straight away. We needed to leave our bags during the entire day and they were safely kept and ready for ou pick up. Claire was very helpful and gave us tips and directions around the area.

We sadly only stayed for one night, but thanks to Andrea, we wished it was more. Excellent communication, a lovely unexpected breakfast, non tourist restaurant recommendations, and allowing us to check in early, made our stay a stand out experience. We are tour operators and would place this hotel in our world top 5 – highly recommend.
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing.
