Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon Residenza Ermanni after a long train ride into Verona – you know, that classic Italian chaos at the station, dodging tourists with their gelato cones. It’s tucked away on Via San Pietro Incarnario, just a stone’s throw from the Adige River, in the heart of the historical center. Honestly, finding parking was a bit of a nightmare – Verona’s old town isn’t exactly car-friendly, with all those narrow cobblestone streets and ZTL zones that fine you if you’re not careful. But once I ditched the rental and walked the last few blocks, it felt like stepping back in time. The building’s this charming old palazzo, with weathered stone steps leading up to the apartment on the second floor (no elevator, mind you, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing). Check-in was a breeze – the host met me right on time, handed over the keys with a quick rundown in broken English, and even pointed out the nearest bakery for morning cornetti. I mean, it’s not a full hotel setup, but that’s what makes it feel authentic, like you’re borrowing a local’s pied-à-terre.

Inside, the place surprised me – it’s more spacious than you’d expect for a centro storico spot, with high ceilings and those big shuttered windows that let in the afternoon light filtering through from the courtyard below. The apartment’s got a full kitchen, which was a lifesaver; I whipped up pasta with ingredients from the market on Via Mazzini, just around the corner – you can smell the fresh produce and hear the vendors haggling from early morning. The bed was comfy, linens crisp and smelling faintly of lavender, and there’s this little balcony where I sipped espresso watching people wander toward Piazza delle Erbe. It’s quiet at night, surprisingly, despite being so close to the Arena – well, except during opera season in summer when the crowds spill out late, but even then, it’s more of a distant hum than anything disruptive. One minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty if you’re streaming, but hey, you’re in Verona – go explore instead. I loved the old wooden floors that creak just a bit, adding to that lived-in vibe, and the bathroom’s modern enough with a rain shower that actually has good pressure, unlike some older spots I’ve stayed in around here.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re living in Verona rather than just visiting – maybe catching a show at the Arena or strolling to Juliet’s House without the hassle of public transport – this is your spot. It’s got that 4-star polish without feeling stuffy, and with a 9.5 rating, it’s no wonder folks rave about it. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season in fall when the streets are less packed and you can really soak in the atmosphere. Just remember to book ahead; places like this fill up fast. The apartment is perfect. Well located, clean, in a lovely old building, very well equipped, great shower, powerful aircon and comfortable bed. Highly recommend

    Location was great

What could be improved: Happy with the accommodation

  • Esthermae from Australia – 10 June 2024 (9/10)

Spacious apartment with a large kitchen & lounge area plus a separate bedroom. The location is great. Verona is a very crowded city, and it was good to escape back to the apartment at the end of the day. Raffaella was very engaging and provided us with a city map and recommendations. There is an excellent little bar just across the road, which is good for coffee, a quiet aperitivo or pizza.

What could be improved: Overall the apartment was very clean, but the shower cubicle could do with a thorough scrubbing.

  • Darjana from Spain – 4 June 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is lovely, very close to all the important points of the old city centre. It had everything we needed for our short stay. Kitchen had all the supplies and condiments for cooking, good towels, clean bathroom and rooms. The communication was clear and helpful.

What could be improved: The sofa bed was comfortable but very very squeaky!

  • Amanda from New Zealand – 1 June 2024 (10/10)

The apartment was fantastic: modern and spacious with a great kitchen and very nice bathroom. It was really good having the washing machine to use as well. The location was excellent, and the owners were friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again when we’re back in the area.

What could be improved: There was some noise from adjacent departments. It would have been really good to have a pair of scissors in the kitchen, because it was dangerous opening packets with knives
