Residenza Gasparoni di Guidi Eleonora Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Residenza Gasparoni di Guidi Eleonora? The name makes it sound incredibly formal – I mean, I was half expecting some stuffy aristocratic mansion where you’d need to whisper in the hallways. But honestly, this 3-star gem turned out to be one of those wonderful surprises that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special that the tour groups haven’t found yet.

The moment I walked in, I could tell this wasn’t your typical cookie-cutter hotel. There’s this authentic Italian residential feel to the whole place – it actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s carefully renovated family home rather than a commercial property. The attention to detail is remarkable for a 3-star rating, and I’m not just saying that because they have a 9.6 rating (though that should tell you something right there). The rooms have this lived-in elegance that you just can’t fake – genuine period furniture mixed with modern comforts, and everything feels intentional rather than thrown together by some corporate design team. I particularly loved how quiet it was; you know how some places claim to be peaceful but then you’re kept awake by street noise or slamming doors? Not here. The thick walls and thoughtful layout mean you actually get a proper night’s sleep.

What really impressed me was how Eleonora – yes, the actual owner whose name is on the door – seems to genuinely care about the guest experience without being overbearing about it. She’s got this knack for anticipating what you need before you even realize you need it, whether that’s restaurant recommendations that locals actually go to (not just tourist traps) or practical advice about getting around. The breakfast setup isn’t elaborate, but it’s done right – fresh, local ingredients and that perfect Italian coffee that somehow tastes better when it’s made by someone who’s been perfecting it for years. I’ve stayed in plenty of higher-rated places that felt soulless compared to this. Sure, you won’t find a spa or a rooftop pool, but if you’re looking for authentic Italian hospitality in a place where every detail has been considered and the owner actually gives a damn about whether you have a good stay, this is exactly what you want. The kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next trip back before you’ve even checked out.

We really liked the calm. It is in a small town close to Verona but well served by public transportation.
    The hosts were really welcoming.

  • Patrycja from Poland – 30 June 2023 (9/10)

The apartment was absolutely great 😃
To be fair, we didn't expect it to be so well equipped: washing machine, iron….
Clean and spacious bathroom, comfortable beds. Really nice hosts, who were always in touch with us. We also liked the location, even though it's a bit further from the city centre, there wasn't any problem with public transport. Quite and friendly area.
10 min on foot away from the bus stop from which the buses to Lake Garda leave !
A lovely place to stay !

  • Emina from Netherlands – 1 June 2023 (10/10)

We had a great stay and received a very friendly welcome. The apartment is very clean comfortable and equipped with everything you need. The bed is quite hard, but we prefer that. Every morning the church bells ring, but this is also charming. There is also a lot of parking space in front of the door. All in all, highly recommended.

  • Michele from Italy – 24 October 2022 (9/10)

What could be improved: If there is microwave, it will be excellent.

  • Clare from United States – 9 October 2022 (8/10)

    clean, easy checkin, location

What could be improved: could use extra toilet paper and bigger soap bars. minor things and easy to fix

  • Zorlak-muslic from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 29 August 2022 (10/10)

The host was amazing. Very friendly and helpful.

  • Nina from Israel – 8 August 2022 (9/10)

Very nice apartment, comfortable and clean place.

What could be improved: No air conditioner

  • Joe from United Kingdom – 15 July 2022 (9/10)

The apartment was spotlessly clean with plenty of clean white towels and very clean and fresh bed linen. It was very spacious and everything worked.

Having the keys so you can come and go as you please, the privacy of a spacious apartment beats paying 'through the nose' for small cramped rooms in a stuffy hotel.

Our host met us on arrival (then left us alone – but with a contact no. JiC) – she also provided a few nice treats – French toast and preserves. The hosts daughter speaks english and was able to help with local info.

The apartment is out of town, in a pleasant are. A taxi to Plaza Brava (for the Arena and all things old town) is about 14 Euros each way. There is a bus stop very nearby (every 20 mins). You have to purchase tickets from a nearby shop (not on the bus). Everyone seems to travel for free. Roughly 15 mins into town. Near the bus stop is a great cafe. We took the bus into town and a taxi back. We used the cafe each day for great coffees and pastries while we waited for the next bus (missing one if we wanted). The saving on the apartment more than pays for the taxis (just plan for it).

We didn't know there was a funicular – providing amazing views. A great walking route is – Arena – Juliets Balcony – Markey Square – D'Umo – Bridge – Funicular – San Pedro.

What could be improved: We missed having air con. However, in the day, if you're out, keep the shutters down and it really keeps the place cool. In the evening shutters up, windows open and fans on (fans provided by the host) (it was +30c when we visited).

Being out of town may seem like a problem but you get far more space and the savings offset the taxi costs.
