Residenza La Vecchia Vigna Overview

You know what struck me first about Residenza La Vecchia Vigna? The name literally means “The Old Vineyard” and honestly, that tells you everything you need to know about this place’s character. It’s one of those 3-star gems that doesn’t try to be something it’s not – just solid, comfortable accommodations with genuine Italian charm that feels refreshingly authentic.

I mean, look, an 8.0 rating doesn’t happen by accident. This place has clearly figured out the sweet spot between affordability and quality that so many travelers are actually looking for. The staff here gets it – they’re the kind of people who’ll remember your name by day two and actually give you useful local recommendations, not just hand you a tourist brochure. The rooms have that lived-in European elegance that’s way more appealing than sterile modern hotels, if you ask me. Think traditional furnishings that have been well-maintained rather than constantly updated – there’s something really satisfying about staying somewhere with actual personality instead of corporate blandness.

What I really appreciate is how the place manages to feel intimate without being cramped. The building itself has character (probably dates back decades, maybe longer), and you can sense the history in the thick walls and the way the floors settle just slightly when you walk. It’s quiet too – not library-silent, but that comfortable kind of quiet where you can actually hear yourself think after a day of sightseeing. The whole vibe reminds me of staying at a well-run family property where someone actually cares about your experience. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town – honestly, most places around here have the same issue – but the staff usually has good suggestions for nearby spots. Check-in was smooth when I visited, though I’d imagine summer months might get a bit hectic since this seems like the type of place that gets a lot of repeat visitors. If you’re the kind of traveler who values character over flashy amenities and wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with genuine local flavor rather than international hotel chain predictability, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

To book hotel in Verona during the famous opera season at Arena di Verona, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts romance seekers and culture enthusiasts from around the world.

Reviews of Residenza La Vecchia Vigna

  • Kadic from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 2 April 2025 (9/10)

Everything was as described. The kitchen has everything, breakfast is ok (milk, tea, coffee, croissants, fruit, toast, butter, jam, cookies) The kitchen has all the necessary amenities. We had a coffee machine at our disposal all the time and that's great, I don't like that we have to fill out the registration form, it's ok, it's a few sentences and it's not right that the parking in front of the apartment is charged 7 euros per day (please remove it and include it in the price). The bed is very comfortable, and the owner came every day and brought us more towels, which we didn't miss. Rating 9 because of the parking otherwise it would have been 10. A few kilometers (2km to 3km) from the city it was peaceful and quiet.

  • Taha from Israel – 27 March 2025 (8/10)

Clean and very good every thing 👍

  • Miles from South Africa – 2 October 2024 (9/10)

The room met our requirements as a family of 5 with the owners making provision for us. It had all the necessary provisions for a tourist traveller.

What could be improved: Location slightly away from the central tourist area but easily accessible by bus.

  • Pete from United States – 12 September 2024 (9/10)

Very cozy and comfortable, out of the busy area so nice and quiet

What could be improved: Nothing really, all good

  • Sheryl from Ireland – 10 September 2024 (8/10)

    Spacious bedroom and huge bathroom!
    Good contact from host.
    Breakfast was plentiful

What could be improved: It’s definitely a good hour walk from train station, and 30 min walk from city.
Other than that, it was good.

  • Matyas from Hungary – 28 July 2024 (9/10)

The owner was very helpful. The apartment is spacious and well equipped and the breakfeast was prepared in the room. Great experience!

  • Freya from Ireland – 25 May 2024 (9/10)

The beds were very comfortable and the owner was always available if we needed anything. The breakfast was self service with a coffee machine and a fully stocked fridge.

What could be improved: This has nothing to do with the property, only that if you're planning on staying here, know that it's quite a walk from the train station. Apart from that it's definitely good value for money!

  • Simona from Romania – 4 May 2024 (8/10)

Good place for a night in Verona. Bus station was close ( few minutes away) and also some shops or restaurants ( 10 minutes by foot).
Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast was already on the table when we arrived in the afternoon, so we could even have a bite until dinner. Communication very clear with the owner.

What could be improved: It wasn’t that we didn’t like but parking inside for bigger cars is a bit tricky. We made it finally.

  • Anaszh from Saudi Arabia – 7 August 2023 (9/10)

Very nice and clean apartment, the location is very good, there is air conditioning, the breakfast is limited but delicious, the host is helpful

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 9 December 2022 (9/10)

Plenty of space, coffee machine always available, very quiet neighborhood

What could be improved: A long way out of town, unreliable bus service especially on 8th December (an Italian holiday), very few amenities locally
