Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to Residenza Le Dimore Centro on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s cobblestone streets get all slick and shiny, and the air smells like wet stone mixed with fresh espresso from the corner cafés. The address is tucked away on Via Castello San Felice, right by that imposing old fortress wall near Castelvecchio, which honestly feels like stepping back into medieval times without the hassle of tourists swarming every inch. It’s a self-check-in spot, which was a lifesaver after my train from Milan ran late – no awkward front desk wait, just a code texted to my phone and boom, I’m in. Parking’s a bit of a nightmare in this part of town, though; I mean, Verona’s historic center isn’t exactly car-friendly, so I ended up ditching mine at a lot over by the Adige River and walking the last few blocks. But once you’re there, it’s dead quiet at night, save for the occasional bell toll from San Zeno nearby – sort of peaceful, actually, especially if you’re coming from the buzz of the Arena district.

What really won me over were the rooms – they’re like these cozy apartments carved out of an old building, with exposed brick walls that give off that authentic Verona vibe, you know? Mine had a little kitchenette where I whipped up pasta with ingredients from the market on Corso Porta Borsari, just a 10-minute stroll away. The beds are comfy, not too firm like some Italian hotels I’ve crashed in, and there’s air conditioning that actually works during those humid summer evenings when the opera crowd floods in for the Arena festivals. I appreciated the thoughtful touches, like fresh towels that smelled faintly of lavender and a balcony overlooking a tiny courtyard – perfect for sipping morning coffee while watching locals zip by on Vespas. Well, it’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty if you’re trying to stream something heavy, and the self-check-in means no one to chat with for insider tips right away, but honestly, that forced me to explore more on my own. Noise-wise, it’s pretty serene, though you might hear faint echoes from the river path if your window’s open – nothing disruptive, just adds to the charm.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re living in Verona rather than just visiting, this place nails it. It’s rated an 8.2 for good reason – solid value for a 4-star without the pretentious fluff. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the streets aren’t packed with Juliet’s balcony pilgrims. Just pack light and be ready to wander; it’s steps from hidden gems like the Ponte Scaligero bridge, where sunsets turn the whole river golden. Trust me, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve got a secret spot in one of Italy’s most romantic cities.

Location is amazing, very cute neighborhood and cute walk to get there! Near the old city (10min walk). The house looks amazing and the place was really comfortable and clean. Everything went smoothly with the host. Would definitely recommend this place for your stay in Verona!

What could be improved: Nothing 😊

The equipment was absolutely sufficient, even though we didn't use the kitchen, it had everything one would need for cooking. The only downside is the beds; for 5 adults, there was only one proper bed, a large double bed. The rest of the beds/sofa bed were more makeshift.

  • Cheeseman from United Kingdom – 19 October 2022 (8/10)

The apartment was in an old typical Italian building. We were on the top floor and there are no lifts ! Although a sprightly lady (we presumed a cleaner ?)appeared from one of the other rooms grabbed one of our cases and literally ran to the top. It is a great location, and Verona is stunning, you are literally a five minute walk, plus close to lots of local restaurants, cafes and bars. It has good transport links but if you are just going into Verona then just walk. When we asked if we could leave our luggage on our last day as had a train later in the day, they were very accommodating and we came back to find out luggage neatly stacked at the bottom for us. We had a lovely stay.

What could be improved: We thought we would have a balcony but I think there are a number of holiday rentals in the same building so it is not clear which one you have booked. There is a lot of outside space downstairs with table and chairs but it was not clear if we could use these. The water pressure, as with a lot of tall old buildings was very slow. The apartment was lovely but could use a bit of an update.

Location is perfect, quick walk to the city center. Fairly easy to reach, bakery close by.

  • Joseph from Ireland – 20 November 2023 (9/10)

Easy to move around the city, even though it is not in the city center. The bus stop was only 2 minutes away.
    Very helpful staff.

  • Dokk from Austria – 6 August 2024 (5/10)

    The fantastic view.
Big beautiful apartment. Very nice outdoor terrace.
Parking for free in front of the house.
    Bus nearby.

What could be improved: Too many sofas in the living room. (3) Crammed
Also a lot of beds, for a large family of at least 12 people.
    Bathroom faucet broken upstairs.
A bit in need of renovation.

  • Hugo from Germany – 30 September 2022 (6/10)

Location is great and the the city center is within walking distance. It is also a pretty walk. The size of the apartment was pretty good and the beds were also quite comfortable. The attention from the host was excellent and the communication afterwards was also superb. The host was pretty accommodating.

What could be improved: We got the apartment at the last floor where the kitchen and kitchenware could use a thorough cleaning. We could barely used it. The parking is tricky due to the narrow entrance and street. Of course, the less you use your car the less of an issue it is. The street might be noisy at night and weekends but that is not the properties' fault. Just keep it in mind if you are a light sleeper.

  • Jakub from Malaysia – 12 August 2024 (6/10)

Excellent location. Great traditional house with a garden just a short walk from the historical center. Upon a decent renovation this apartment might be a true gem!

What could be improved: The apartment is certainly overrated and overpriced. Unfortunately the AC was completely inefficient- it has barely served the single bedroom. Kitchen and the kitchen equipment is heavily worn out, tableware looks like a random collection from the yard sale.

  • Oren from Israel – 23 September 2023 (6/10)

    The location

What could be improved: The air con. Not eff. There is no elev.

  • Anonymous from Greece – 1 December 2023 (9/10)

The position of this beautiful apartment is just perfect. The historic Center is in walking distance and there is private surveilled parking.
