Residenza Montecchi Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Residenza Montecchi? Walking up to this 3-star place, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – but there’s something genuinely charming about how they’ve managed to create this intimate, almost residential feel that bigger hotels just can’t pull off. The moment you step inside, it feels more like you’re staying at a well-connected friend’s place rather than just another generic hotel room.

The staff here actually seems to care about what you’re up to – not in an intrusive way, but they’ll point you toward that little trattoria around the corner that doesn’t show up in guidebooks, or mention when the local market is worth hitting up. I mean, with an 8.5 rating, you’d expect decent service, but this goes beyond just being polite at the front desk. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to describe – they’re not trying to be Instagram-perfect, but everything works exactly as it should. The beds are properly comfortable (honestly, I’ve paid twice as much for worse sleep), and there’s enough space to actually unpack without feeling cramped.

What really won me over, though, was how the place operates day to day. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no lengthy explanations of amenities you’ll never use. The common areas have this natural flow where you might end up chatting with other guests without it feeling forced. And here’s the thing about staying somewhere like this versus those massive chain hotels – you actually start to feel like you belong in the neighborhood instead of just passing through it. The building itself has character (you can tell it’s been thoughtfully maintained rather than constantly renovated), and the morning routine feels organic rather than rushed. I found myself looking forward to starting each day there, which honestly doesn’t happen often when I’m traveling for work. If you’re the type who values genuine hospitality over flashy lobbies and wants to feel connected to wherever you’re staying, this place gets it right in ways that surprised me.

Exploring Verona offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Italy’s city of love, from its ancient Roman ruins to its Renaissance palaces and world-renowned romantic literature connections.

Reviews of Residenza Montecchi

  • Khalid from Italy – 25 August 2024 (9/10)

    Very good we enjoyed

What could be improved: Every thing ok

  • Evita from Latvia – 26 October 2023 (9/10)

Location is great, everything within walking distance, we parked a car on the street for 1 eur/ per hour during the day, 0 for the night. Nice reception lady, assisted when needed. Nice neighborhood, nice cafes.

  • Richard from United Kingdom – 8 October 2023 (8/10)

This is a lovely apartment in a quiet, but excellent location.

We collected the keys in person from the reception desk and to also have our passports checked as is required; We were very warmly greeted and personally shown to our room on the top floor. The apartment itself has 3 rooms and the two air conditioners in the two main rooms were a massive relief from the unexpected heat when we stayed in early autumn. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in, and the best sleep I had on my trip in Italy.

The apartment was very clean, spacious and a lovely place to relax after a long journey getting there – the guidance we received on how best to get to the apartment was great. We didn't follow the public transport guidance as we arrived very early, so walked from the train station to the apartment, which takes about 40mins without stopping for lunch, which we did to waste time before check-in time.

The location is very excellent as it is very close to some great restaurants and cafes close to the river on the city centre side, while itself being located in a quiet area, where there are also fantastic bars, cafes and shops close by.

As well as the patisserie a few doors down I would also recommend the Grande Giove Cocktail bar a short walk from the apartment, serving excellent drinks in a relaxing & cool bar.

Would stay here again if we come back to Verona, very much recommend.

What could be improved: Perhaps a little more cutlery, I can't recall finding a bottle opener\corkscrew but I had one with me so never asked to see if there was one and I had missed it.

  • Krishna from Germany – 29 September 2023 (9/10)

Very pleasant hosts, pleasant welcoming, in general outstanding communication. Nice apartment. I want to come back!

  • Nikolaya from United States – 17 July 2023 (9/10)

The property is big and comfortable. Great location – 10 minutes away from mostly of the sightseeings. Everything was clean and thought about it. The coffee machine with complimentary capsules was a nice touch. The hostess was very attentive and took into account my request about the accommodations.

    What could be improved: N/a

  • Mike from Australia – 26 September 2022 (9/10)

Plenty of space and good location

  • Yasmin from Spain – 12 August 2022 (9/10)

    location. just 5
mins away from the main spots. also when checking in staff very nice! all u need for a pleasant stay

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Regis from France – 7 August 2022 (9/10)

the room meet very well what we looking for.

What could be improved: cooking could be better if you can add at least one bowl.

  • Shahrooz from United States – 1 August 2022 (9/10)

What could be improved: Parking is an issue especially on arrival. Free parking is too far to park, come back and check in. Paid parking is closer but still an issue. Property needs to find a more practical solution for parking upon arrival.

  • Jacke2 from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 27 May 2022 (9/10)

Everything was great! Size is good, toilett ecxellent, all was spotless.. Charming place, close to all amenities! We would definitely come back – highly recommended!

What could be improved: There was nothing we did not like, on contrary, but if I had to pick something (which is not even an issue) is that there was no tea cup in the apartment. We would definitely stay in this place again!
