Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to Residenza Pozzani on Via Roma – you know, that bustling street right in the heart of Verona’s historical centre, just a stone’s throw from Piazza Bra and the Arena. It was one of those warm spring afternoons when the tourists start flooding in for the opera season, and honestly, finding parking was a bit of a hassle – I ended up circling a couple of blocks before snagging a spot in one of those pricey garages nearby (pro tip: if you’re driving, book ahead or just embrace the walk from the train station). But stepping inside, it felt like a cozy escape from the chaos outside. The building’s this charming old palazzo, with those worn stone steps that creak a little underfoot, and the check-in was super laid-back – the owner, this friendly local guy named Marco (I think?), chatted about the best gelato spot on Via Mazzini while handing over the keys. No fancy lobby or anything, just a small reception area that smells faintly of fresh espresso from the machine they keep going all day. I mean, it’s not glamorous, but that’s kind of the appeal – it feels authentic, like staying in a friend’s apartment in the old town rather than some sterile chain hotel.

What really won me over were the rooms – mine was on the second floor, overlooking a quiet courtyard (ask for one of those if street noise bothers you, especially on weekends when the bars on Corso Porta Nuova get lively). It’s a solid 3-star setup, nothing over-the-top, but clean and comfortable with these high ceilings and exposed beams that give it that historic Verona vibe. The bed was firm but plush enough for a good night’s sleep after traipsing around Juliet’s House – which, by the way, is literally a five-minute stroll from here, past all those little boutiques and cafes on Via Cappello. Breakfast was simple – croissants, yogurt, and that strong Italian coffee – served in a sunny nook downstairs, though I wish they’d add more fresh fruit options (it’s Italy, after all!). Oh, and the Wi-Fi was surprisingly reliable for streaming shows in the evening, which is a lifesaver when you’re jet-lagged. Well, one minor gripe: the bathroom’s on the smaller side, with a shower that takes a second to heat up, but hey, for the price, it’s forgivable. You can hear the distant chime of church bells from San Zeno in the mornings – sort of magical, if you’re into that romantic stuff.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to dive into Verona without breaking the bank, Residenza Pozzani is a gem. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who appreciate being smack in the middle of things – think easy access to the Adige River walks or catching a show at the Arena without needing a cab. I stayed there last May, right before the summer crowds peak, and it was quiet enough to actually relax, but come July, it might feel busier. Honestly, with its 8.3 rating, it’s earned – not perfect, but warm and real in a way that makes you feel like you’ve got a little piece of Verona to yourself. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe even splurge on a room with a balcony next time.

Reviews

  • Neat little apartment, close to most things but away from the noisy action. – Mary from Australia – 13 July 2025 (9/10)

Location is away from the crowds! But close to the action!
Good easy to access apartment that gas most things we needed!

What could be improved: The couch! Terrible to sit on and gritty under the blanket covering it!

  • Fantastic place and would recommend. – Jo from United Kingdom – 26 April 2025 (7/10)

The location was fantastic; close to restaurants and bars and local tourist sights. The accommodation was roomy, rustic looking and clean although would have been a nice touch to have provided a tea towel.

What could be improved: Although the accommodation suited us perfectly for one night, the location of the boiler in the apartment and its ‘firing up’ could have been a problem for light sleepers.

  • Convenience!! – Richard from South Africa – 22 June 2025 (8/10)

Perfect for the Opera which ends late!

What could be improved: Apartment could do with a refurb but perfectly adequare

What could be improved: There was only two towels, we could’ve done with extra but nonetheless we got by

Incredible location in the Old Town. Remote access was convenient, spacious rooms and washing machine was a fantastic bonus. Surrounded by Cafes, restaurants & supermarkets.

What could be improved: Would have been good to have a Smart TV with Netflix, etc.

The location was amazing, it was very clean and much bigger than expected, and it was very easy to get to and all the instructions were super clear and helpful!

What could be improved: Could include a few more kitchen appliances to make cooking slightly easier

  • Exceptional – Val-87 from Austria – 30 May 2025 (10/10)

I had a spacious room with pretty interior in what seems to be a historical building. Windows facing nice quiet court. The host was very helpful and always available for questions.

  • Exceptional – Petar from Bulgaria – 21 April 2025 (10/10)

    Everything was perfect…

What could be improved: Everything was perfect…

  • Great central location – Anonymous from United States – 14 July 2025 (7/10)

The location of this property was ideal as we were attending an event at the Arena di Verona. It was easy to access keys. The apartment was adequate, comfortable beds. It was a hot summer day and the air conditioning is not very efficient/cool. Likely due to the heat and the 3rd floor location of the apartment. The shower was a little temperamental and leaked onto the floor. Good place to stay for accessibility – near town center, food, attractions.

What could be improved: Shower and AC
