Residenza San Faustino Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Residenza San Faustino, you immediately get the sense that this three-star hotel takes itself seriously — in the best possible way. The building has that understated Italian elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but somehow draws you in anyway. It’s tucked away on Corticella San Faustino, which honestly feels more like a local secret than a tourist thoroughfare. The entrance is modest but welcoming, and you can tell right away that this isn’t one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I really appreciated about the location — you’re in Verona proper, but not drowning in the crowds that swarm around Juliet’s balcony every single day. The historic center is totally walkable from here, maybe fifteen minutes to the Arena di Verona if you take your time and actually look around. What’s clever about this spot is that you get authentic neighborhood vibes (there’s a fantastic little bakery just around the corner that locals actually use) while still being close enough to hit all the major sights. I mean, couples clearly get this — the hotel has built quite a reputation as a romantic base, and I can see why.

The Rooms

The rooms at Residenza San Faustino strike that perfect balance between comfort and character that’s surprisingly hard to find. They’re not huge — this is Italy, after all — but they’re thoughtfully designed with enough space to actually unpack and settle in. The beds are genuinely comfortable, which matters more than you’d think after a day of walking on cobblestones. What I loved most was the attention to details: proper reading lights, decent Wi-Fi that actually works, and windows that open to let in that Italian air. The bathrooms are modern without feeling sterile, and honestly, the water pressure was better than I expected.

Breakfast & Dining

You know what sets this place apart? The Italian breakfast they serve actually feels Italian, not like some international buffet trying to please everyone and satisfying no one. We’re talking proper espresso (obviously), fresh pastries that taste like they came from that bakery I mentioned, and local touches that make you feel like you’re experiencing Verona rather than just staying in it. It’s not elaborate, but it’s authentic, and there’s something to be said for starting your day with food that belongs to the place you’re visiting. The breakfast room itself has this warm, family-run feel that makes lingering over your coffee feel natural.

Why Guests Love It

With an 8.4 rating, Residenza San Faustino clearly knows what it’s doing, and after staying here, I get it. This isn’t about flashy amenities or over-the-top service — it’s about getting the fundamentals right in a way that feels genuinely Italian. The staff treats you like a person, not a room number, and they seem to actually care whether you enjoy Verona. For couples especially, there’s something about the intimate scale and romantic neighborhood setting that just works. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting that personal touch and local authenticity that often disappears in bigger hotels.

Early hotels booking in Verona requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary balconies, medieval squares, and Italian cultural attractions.

Reviews of Residenza San Faustino

  • Klara from Slovenia – 19 January 2025 (9/10)

The room is nice, daily cleaning was really great and good complementary breakfast.
The owner was very kind, responsive and always tried to accomodade our needs.

  • Downie from South Africa – 11 January 2025 (9/10)

The place is beautifully situated. A short walk and you're in the hub of the action. The most important sites to see are nearby. It's in a quaint area. The host was great.

What could be improved: The coffee machine ran out of water a few times before I could have my coffee!! I guess others drank lots of coffee!

  • Luca from United Kingdom – 21 December 2024 (9/10)

I might be biased (Verona is my hometown) but I loved every second of my short stay. The property is in the heart of my favorite part of the town, north of the River Adige, where every corner tells a story. The breakfast was really nice. A tasty and fresh croissant delighted my morning. Monica is a fantastic host and she has great taste!

What could be improved: Just make sure you get the permit if you park the car in front of the property or It might become a target of a local sport amongst the not really nice neighbours: rotten eggs tossing.
The owner, Monica, doesn’t have any responsibility of it, of course. But just don’t forget to ask for the permit, like I did. No problem, I spent 1 euro at the car wash and the car was clean again dear nice neighbors.

  • Pavel from Italy – 2 September 2024 (9/10)

Well-organized mini-hotel with lots of thoughtful details in the room (to use practically or just to watch on and enjoy). Compliments to the owners!

  • Maike from Norway – 20 August 2024 (9/10)

Great service, comfy bed. Didn’t realize breakfast was included, so that was a bonus. The breakfast is a little basic, but filling and great before you leave to explore the city.

What could be improved: There is free parking in the street outside the hotel, but not reserved for guests. When we arrived we really struggled to find parking in the surrounding streets (Sunday afternoon). The hotel kindly gave us a parking permit so we had a lot more options, and that was greatly appreciated.

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 27 May 2024 (8/10)

Just over the river from the old town so everything is in reach

What could be improved: Walked past looking for it

  • Patryk from Poland – 1 August 2023 (9/10)

Good location with possibity to park, close to the old square market. Furnished in italian style. Good contact.

  • John from United Kingdom – 21 July 2023 (8/10)

A comfortable stay in a smallish single bedroom. The breakfast provided in the room was simple but satisfying. The location is excellent and is very close to the city centre and also has a few osterias nearby.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Andrea from Australia – 17 July 2023 (9/10)

Very comfortable room, great breakfast and permanent coffee machine, great location, lovely and helpful staff.

What could be improved: That TV was only in Italian😂.
