Hotel Description
I remember pulling into Verona’s Porta Nuova station after a long train ride from Milan – honestly, I was wiped out, and the last thing I wanted was a trek with my luggage. But Residenza Verona Porta Nuova? It’s literally a stone’s throw away, right on Via Case Ferrovieri, this quiet little side street that’s tucked behind the main hustle. You can walk it in under five minutes, dodging the occasional scooter whizzing by, and boom, you’re there. The building itself has that modern apartment vibe – not some flashy hotel chain, but more like a sleek, converted spot with clean lines and big windows that let in the afternoon sun. Check-in was a breeze; the staff – this friendly guy named Marco, I think – handed over the keys with a quick chat about where to grab the best gelato nearby (spoiler: it’s that tiny place on Via Roma, just a 10-minute stroll toward the center). Oh, and parking? If you’re driving, they’ve got a secure garage underneath, which is a godsend in Verona where spots are like gold dust, especially during the opera season in summer when the Arena di Verona packs out.
What really won me over, though, was how it feels like a home base without the stuffiness. The rooms are spacious – mine had this comfy king bed with crisp linens that smelled faintly of lavender (they must use some local detergent or something), and a little kitchenette where I whipped up espresso from the pods they provide. It’s not perfect; you might hear a distant train rumble at night if your window’s open – well, it’s right by the station, after all – but the double glazing keeps most of it out, and honestly, it adds to that authentic Italian city buzz. Mornings were my favorite: breakfast is served in this bright communal area downstairs, with fresh croissants, prosciutto, and those juicy blood oranges that taste like they were picked yesterday. I mean, it’s not a massive spread, but it’s thoughtful, and you can chat with other guests – mostly couples or families exploring Verona’s historic bits. From there, you’re perfectly positioned to wander over to the Arena (about 15 minutes on foot along Corso Porta Nuova, passing those cute boutiques and cafes where locals sip aperitivos in the evening). Or hop a bus to Juliet’s House if you’re into the Romeo and Juliet thing – it’s sort of touristy, but fun in a kitschy way.
All in all, if you’re looking for a spot that balances convenience with that real Verona charm, this place nails it. It’s not the ritziest – no spa or rooftop bar – but at 4 stars with a 9.4 rating, you get solid value, especially off-season when the city’s quieter and you can snag a room without the crowds. I left feeling like I’d actually experienced Verona, not just passed through – you know, grabbing a spritz at a nearby osteria on Via Pallone after a day of sightseeing. If trains are your jam or you want easy access without the central chaos, book it; just pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

Reviews
It was great – Niamh from Italy – 15 July 2025 (8/10)
Large, airy apartment, good aircon. Comfortable beds, big bathroom. Great big kitchen/living with ample space for 6 of us to sit around the table.
What could be improved: The kitchen was missing just a few essentials eg sharp knives for chopping or peeling, wine glasses… We could have done with a few dishcloths and sink sponges etc. But everything else was great, lots of clean towels, two big coffee pots!great deal – Eyal from Israel – 6 April 2025 (9/10)
The location is excellent (walking distance from the center) and the apartment is spacious and cozy.
What could be improved: The nearest supermarket was 10 min walkExceptional – Vivian_xu from Germany – 26 December 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: NothingWonderful spacious and clean apartment perfect for our family trip to Verona – Laura from United Kingdom – 13 October 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was beautiful, a good size, clean. It was like a home away from home. The bathrooms were lovely. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept very well. The lady who met us on arrival was lovely and really helpful. She had put the heating on for our arrival to warm the place up. Good cooking facilities. A washing machine in the bathroom. Everything you need. Also right across the road from the bus/train station making it ideal to jump on a bus to the centre which only takes 5 mins, or trains to other places. We visited Venice and Lake Garda. We would most definitely stay here again. Thanks again!
What could be improved: Only that we had to walk at least ten mins to a super market, but not really a problem. Can also jump on the bus along to Aldi in the centre. The bus was only about 2 euros a person. The bus station across the road did have some coffee and food places which was good.Great location, good neighbourhood, great appartement. – Katarina from France – 8 October 2024 (9/10)
