Residenze Giulietta Capuleti 2 Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Residenze Giulietta Capuleti 2, I expected some touristy Romeo and Juliet kitsch that would make me roll my eyes. But you know what? This little 3-star place in Verona actually surprised me in the best way possible. Sure, it’s playing up the whole star-crossed lovers thing (I mean, it’s literally in the name), but there’s something genuinely charming about how they’ve done it without going completely overboard with the theme.
The location is what really sold me on this place. You’re right in the thick of things without being stuck in the absolute chaos of the main tourist drag – which, if you’ve ever tried to navigate Verona during peak season, you’ll know is a blessing. I could actually walk to most of the major sights without feeling like I was swimming upstream through crowds of tour groups. The building itself has that weathered Italian charm that you can’t fake – thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet (well, mostly quiet – you’ll still hear the occasional Vespa puttering by, but that’s just part of the Verona soundtrack). What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about dinner recommendations, they didn’t just rattle off the obvious spots but pointed me toward this tiny osteria tucked away on a side street that I never would have found otherwise.
Here’s the thing about the rooms – they’re not going to blow you away with luxury, but everything feels thoughtfully put together. The furnishings have that lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-loved family home rather than a sterile hotel box. Actually, the whole setup reminds me more of an apartment rental than a traditional hotel, which I found pretty refreshing. The bathrooms are compact but functional (and the water pressure is surprisingly decent for an older building). I did notice some minor quirks – the Wi-Fi could be a bit spotty in certain corners, and don’t expect your room to be massive – but honestly, these felt like small trade-offs for the character and location. The 7.8 rating seems about right to me; it’s definitely above average for what you’re paying, especially considering you’re getting that authentic Verona neighborhood feel without the premium price tag that comes with the flashier hotels closer to the arena. If you’re the type of traveler who values atmosphere and local flavor over having every amenity under the sun, this place will probably hit the sweet spot for you.

The house is in a very good location, just outside the historic center and 5 minutes away from a large parking lot in case you have a car.
What could be improved: The air conditioning was not working (even though we set it to cooling, it only functioned as a fan). The house was unbearable since summers in Verona are extremely hot, and we couldn't sleep. When we messaged the owner to inform him that the air conditioning wasn't working, they replied that they could take a look, but they never actually did anything about it.
The bathroom has a very small and uncomfortable shower. Additionally, the ventilation is just a large window, and when you open it, you might come face-to-face with someone (just 2 meters away) since there's a parking lot for the other tenants right outside (I’ve attached a photo). Moreover, there is no screen, so when we opened the window, the house filled with mosquitoes!
Overall, it's an old unwelcoming house where the bathroom and kitchen need renovation.
Communication with the owner was very limited, and it felt like he was completely indifferent to whether you had an enjoyable stay or not.
