Romantic Cloister Overview

You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Romantic Cloister, I was expecting something either completely over-the-top cheesy or maybe one of those converted monastery hotels you see all over Europe. Turns out it’s neither, which was actually a pleasant surprise. This 3-star place has this understated charm that grows on you, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The building itself feels like it has stories to tell – thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet even when there’s street activity outside, and these gorgeous arched windows that let in the most amazing light during the day. I stayed in a room on the second floor, and honestly, the morning light streaming through was worth waking up early for (which, if you know me, is saying something). The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out with these beautiful wooden details that feel authentic rather than mass-produced. The bathroom was compact but well-designed – hot water pressure was actually better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed at.

What really struck me about this place was how the staff seemed to genuinely care without being overly fussy about it. The woman at reception – I think her name was Maria – remembered I was traveling alone and casually mentioned a few local spots that weren’t touristy but were worth checking out. That kind of local insight is gold when you’re somewhere new. The breakfast area has these lovely stone floors and feels almost like someone’s private courtyard, which fits the whole intimate vibe perfectly. They don’t do a massive buffet spread, but what they have is fresh and local – the pastries were clearly from somewhere nearby, not frozen hotel chain stuff. I actually ended up having coffee there most mornings just because it felt so peaceful before the day got going.

Now, I should mention that if you’re expecting modern luxury amenities, this might not be your place. The Wi-Fi was decent but not lightning fast, and while the air conditioning worked fine, it took a bit to cool down the room on particularly warm afternoons. But honestly? These minor things felt like fair trade-offs for the character and warmth of the place. With a 7.2 rating, it’s clearly not perfect, but I found myself caring less about small inconveniences because the overall experience just felt genuine. The location worked out really well for walking to restaurants and local spots – I never felt stuck or isolated, and parking nearby wasn’t the nightmare I’d feared. If you’re looking for a place with personality that doesn’t try too hard to impress but somehow manages to be memorable anyway, the Romantic Cloister is worth considering. It’s one of those places that reminds you why sometimes a comfortable, well-run 3-star beats a soulless luxury hotel every time.

  What could be improved: El sofá-cama, incomodísimo. La cantidad de mosquitos. La televisión no la supimos hacer funcionar con dos mandos a distancia, pero la verdad, tampoco nos hizo falta.

  What could be improved: Leider hat mich per Email die Vorabinformation zum Check-in nicht erreicht, da nicht über booking kommuniziert wurde. Daher war der Check-in holprig und für beide Seiten unangenehm. Aber hochzufriedenstellend geklärt. Parkplatz war leider nicht für unser Fahrzeug SUV zugänglich, somit sind zusätzlich Parkgebühren angefallen.

  Très bonne situation. Espace cuisine, mais pas testée, hormis la bouilloire. Une place de parc existante, mais pas annoncée, car minuscule. Uniquement pour les 500 😉
  
  What could be improved: Appartement insalubre ou longtemps fermé : mauvaise odeur, insectes, infestée de moustiques, vieux meubles, poussière ambiante, canapé inconfortable et rideaux poisseux. TV HS. Un seul jeu de clef, très gênant pour une famille. Sanitaires basique, paroi de douche cassée. On a fait avec, ne restant que 2 nuits.

  Die Nachbarn sind sehr nett und freundlich. Ruhiger Innenhof.
  
  What could be improved: Dieses Apartment ist nicht empfehlenswert. Das Bad war dreckig und voller Schimmel, es hat die ganze Zeit stark nach Kanalisation gestunken. Die Toilette war dreckig. Duschabtrennung war kaputt und nicht nutzbar. Sie hing einfach in der Luft und kippte ständig. Die Möblierung ist sehr alt und abgenutzt, sie entspricht auch nicht den Bildern auf Booking !!!! Geht gar nicht !!!! Das Bett und Schlafsofa sind unbequem und sehr hart, die Kissen sind extrem hart.
  Auch der kleine Außenbereich direkt vor der Küche war ungepflegt, alle Pflanzen ausgetrocknet.
  
  Die Wohnung muss komplett renoviert werden. Es war nicht das Geld wert. Finger weg von diesem Apartment !!!!

  Thank you Sandra and Federica, we had a wonderful stay in Verona – Romantic Cloister was perfectly situated for the excellent concert in the Arena. The ground floor apartment was very comfortable for our party of 4 adults and had all that we needed – including parking for our small car!

  The location is very good, close to the City center, it's in a interior iard, so this makes is very quiet which is great when you are with babys. The personal is very very responsive. The kitchen is well equipped but could be a bit cleaner
  
  What could be improved: It's not i didn't like but it could be better, it's a cold house during the morning and you could use some slippers – they could provide some hotel sleppers, as you don't take yours from home. In the bathroom the faucet is old style, so it's hard to take a shower as the water comes way to cold or to hot, also the protective paravan ar the tub is not correctly mounted so the bathroom will get full of water if you take a shower. These are Details that could be updated, else it's a great location, we would return for next Verona trip
